Join the inaugural cohort to support graduate student well-being.

Graduate Studies is pleased to announce the Faculty Academy of Graduate Student Well-Being, a new initiative that trains faculty to develop and teach mental health and well-being seminars within graduate programs or across a cluster of graduate programs.

Recent national reports and UC Davis surveys indicate anxiety and depression has increased among graduate students, especially during the pandemic, which is why Graduate Studies is excited to launch this much needed program.

Led by Public Health, Psychiatry, and Behavioral Sciences Professor Carolyn Dewa, M.P.H., Ph.D., and mental health consultant Kathy Holmes-Sullivan, LCSW, faculty participants will learn relevant scholarship on mental health and develop facilitation skills to lead conversations and seminars on well-being.

Apply to the inaugural cohort of facilitators in the Faculty Academy of Graduate Student Well-Being. The deadline to apply is June 18.

About the Graduate Student Seminar

Faculty will learn how to facilitate a graduate-level seminar on the topic of enhancing well-being and professional success. Based on the successful graduate course created by Dr. Dewa, the course teaches skills to deal with common graduate school stresses by introducing graduate students to the scientific evidence regarding stress and wellness. The skills introduced in this course can be used both personally and professionally. The topics covered will be similar to those in this syllabus
