WEI Invites Female Entrepreneurs to the Tech Tip Off

If you are a female entrepreneur, you are invited to participate in the Women’s Entrepreneurship Initiative (WEI) Tech Tip off--a series of workshops hosted by industry leaders. Women who attend at least four workshops will be eligible to participate in a pitch competition, with grants from $1,000-$15,000.

Government Assistance for SE Manufacturers

The Trade Adjustment Assistance for Firms (TAAF) is the only federal program specifically designed to help American manufacturers that have been hurt by foreign competition. To qualify for TAAF and up to $75,000 of matching funds, a manufacturer must be experiencing declines in sales and employment, as well as losing business to imports. Amex Puts $40M into Fund for Small Business Owners of Color

American Express and Accion Opportunity Fund - a leading nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) small business lender - announced a new program to provide loans and other resources to underfunded small business owners in the U.S.

SOAR Fund for Small Businesses

The Southern Opportunity and Resilience (SOAR) Fund will provide affordable capital to the smallest of small businesses and nonprofits and those that have been historically underbanked, including women, people of color, immigrants, and those in rural communities across the South. Nonprofits and small business owners with fewer than 50 full-time employees can apply now for very low interest loans of up to $100,000 and free business support.

SBA Grants & Funding

SBA PPP Extended to May 31
The PPP Extension Act of 2021 allows for an additional two months of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) until May 31, 2021, and then provides an additional 30-day period for the SBA to process applications that are still pending. 


Shuttered Venue Grant Application Opens April 8
The SBA launched a splash page for the application portal where small business owners of eligible venues may apply for the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG) starting April 8. Eligible entities that applied for a Paycheck Protection Program loan after Dec. 27, 2020 can also apply for the SVOG, with the eligible entity's SVOG reduced by the PPP loan amount.

EIDL Lending Limits Increased
Starting the week of April 6, 2021, the SBA is raising the loan limit for the COVID-19 EIDL program from 6-months of economic injury with a maximum loan amount of $150,000 to up to 24-months of economic injury with a maximum loan amount of $500,000.


EIDL Extends Deferments Until 2022
The SBA announced extended deferment periods for all disaster loans, including the COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program, until 2022. Read more.

Does Your Small Business Qualify for the EIDL? 
The SBA is reaching out to small businesses that qualify for the COVID-19 targeted Emergency Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL). Funds of up to $10,000 may be available to applicants. Click here to learn more.

Small Business Tax Credits for Vaccination PTO

Offer paid time off to your employees for COVID-related purposes like vaccinations and you may be eligible for tax credits. The American Rescue Plan is providing a new paid leave tax credit that will offset the cost for employers with fewer than 500 employees to provide full pay for any time their employees need to get a COVID-19 vaccination or recover from that vaccination.
