President's Message

Hi members!

On behalf of the Board of Directors and our staff I just want to say that we miss you. The Ultimate community is such a wonderful community and I know I am not the only one out there feeling nostalgic about summer league and tournaments.  If you’ve got a great story and are willing to share, we’d love to hear it!  Have some great photos from leagues of years past?  We’d love to see those too!  Just send them over to community@eupa.ca!

Double Disc flip,

Vicky

Board Member Update

Due to the departure of one of our own to beautiful British Columbia, we held a General Meeting and By-Election on April 9th to fill the vacant board position left by Kayla Dickie.  Rob Kaplan, currently serving a 1 year term with the BoD, was elected into the remainder of Kayla’s two-year term.  Nathaniel Drew was then newly elected to serve the remainder of Rob’s 1 year term. Nathaniel is excited to participate in the facilitation of EUPA and is bringing a strong love of ultimate and a desire to get things done with efficiency.  Welcome to the team, Nathaniel!
Summer League Update

Attention to all of those who have registered to participate in Session 1 of EUPA’s summer league. As the weather begins to turn I know we are all anxious to get out there and toss some discs around, however as it stands we have yet to receive go-ahead from the provincial government to proceed with our programming, even with COVID-19 precautions in place.

As such, we wanted to send a quick reminder to all of you with our plan of action and timelines, should we not be able to run Session 1 due to the ongoing restrictions.

  • If and when the Government of Alberta announces that adult recreational sports are allowed, EUPA S1 will begin one week later.

  • Refunds will be issued on a pro-rated basis for any weeks that do not happen.

  • The league end date (July 1st) will not change.

  • If adult recreational sports are not allowed by June 7th (for a June 14th start), Session 1 will be cancelled.

  • More information with regard to S2 will be posted on the EUPA website by June 4th, but it is our plan to continue offering registrations contingent on the lifting of restrictions.

Until we know more, please continue taking all precautions to ensure you and your community are safe. We highly encourage all those who are eligible to become vaccinated to do so in advance of a return to playing Ultimate. Until then, EUPA wants to extend its thanks to you for being so patient, and if you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to contact us by reaching out to admin@eupa.ca.

Art Hawkins Great Canadian Race - it's back!

Ultimate Canada will once again be holding the Art Hawkins Great Canadian Race, a virtual scavenger hunt for Ultimate players all across Canada.  Team Social Disc-ancing, representing EUPA, was the team to earn the most points last year.  Let’s double our efforts in raising money for the Art Hawkins Development Fund this year and take home the top title again!

EUPA is getting a New Website!

In 2019 a Website Task Force was formed to research options and make a recommendation for a new website provider given that our current website has reached its end-of-life.  In May of this year, the EUPA Board of Directors voted to accept RAMP Interactive as our new provider.  RAMP Interactive is an Edmonton based provider of sports related websites and online registration solutions.  Learn more about RAMP @ rampinteractive.com

Over the next few months, the Website Task Force, in conjunction with the Growth & Marketing Committee, will be working tirelessly to implement the new site with a projected roll-out date of September 1st, 2021. The new website will be mobile friendly and significantly more interactive!

In the meantime, we are looking for 3-5 volunteers who would be willing to volunteer about an hour of their time to help us user test the new website.  If you are interested in participating, please send an email to growth@eupa.ca.
