Breaking News!

If you monitored the Town Council meeting Monday night (May 17, 2021) you know the VCA scored another win! This time it was by Ardeth Staz, VCA Vice President. Ardeth represented the VCA to request permission to attach our little libraries to the community mailbox pergola frames. The Town owns the land and structures where the little libraries are to be located and we needed their approval to set them up.

Wasting no time – the little libraries were installed the next day!

VCA Little Libraries Open for Business!

The two little libraries have been installed by the Village Community Association, one at each of our community mailbox areas on Macdonell Road and on Perez Street.

These are intended for sharing good things to read, things you would recommend to your friends and neighbours.

Thanks to Village residents Richard Connelly and Jim Filyer for their time and building skills! Thanks also to residents Luba and Warren Fraser who have donated materials, and to Mark Spiers of Garden City Roofing for the cedar shingles! Thanks also go to the Town of NOTL for allowing us to use the mailbox pergolas to support our Little Libraries, as a pilot project.

Anyone may take a book or bring or return a book to share. Everyone can help keep this collection well stocked, organized and well taken care of. There is no need to share a book at the same time as taking one, but the idea is that you put a book back later. If you bring a book back and there isn't any room, come back another time.

Please abide by the usual COVID rules while at our Little Libraries - the handle might be considered a high touch area so wash your hands or use hand sanitizer. Although books (paper-based materials) are not of concern as a transmission route, you may want to let a book 'sit' for a few days before you start reading it. Don't visit the library if you are feeling sick.
