  • If your child has allergies or other special medical concerns, please complete this form or obtain the equivalent from your child's doctor and prepare corresponding medications.

Health & Safety

In navigating the Covid-19 health situation, we continue to work diligently to maintain a safe environment for our children. These protocols evolve as the health situation shifts, so please stay tuned to our weekly newsletters for updates. Our current protocols include:

Outdoor Time: We know that spending time outdoors is always healthy for children, but especially now. From sprinkler play to bike rodeos, and nature crafts to picnics, we will be spending time enjoying the outdoors.

Masks: Children ages 2+ wear a mask each day and bring a backup in their backpack. They may choose to remove the mask when playing outdoors. If your child is new to mask wearing, we will help them transition to the new routine.

Health Screenings: Before leaving home each morning, complete the health attestation through the Brightwheel app, using the QR code. When you arrive, we will complete a visual check of your child before welcoming them for the day.

Illness: Keep your child home and let us know if they are sick, if anyone in your household is awaiting covid test results, or if they have been exposed to covid.

Surveillance Testing: We currently use Abbott BinaxNOW, a rapid antigen test which uses a lower nasal swab and gives results in about 15 minutes. Recent studies demonstrate that the tests have excellent sensitivity in detecting high viral load in both adults and children. The swift turnaround time for results and the reliability of the test make it a valuable tool to reduce risk of viral transmission in our community.  We have been offered space in a new community-wide testing program and once we have the details, we will send forms for getting set up.

Travel: Complete this form before you travel out of state. TBS Travel Form. Email related paperwork to paperwork@tbsneedham.org or upload it on the form. Current travel requirements and relevant links are listed on the form. If all adults (and any children over age 10) in your household are vaccinated, you can added to our approved travel list. Those on the list do not need to submit a travel form each time you travel out of state. To be added to the list, please email your vaccination record to paperwork@tbsneedham.org.

Arrival/Dismissal

  • Before leaving home, complete the health attestation through the Brightwheel app, using the QR code.
  • When you arrive, pull up in the car line. We will greet your child, do a quick visual check, and then walk them to their class.
  • Dismissal will also be via the car line until 4pm. Pull up and wait and we will bring your child to the car. If you are picking up after 4pm, message us on the Brightwheel app and we will bring your child to your car.
  • Arriving on time helps our day run more smoothly. If you arrive late in the morning or need to retrieve your child early in the afternoon, please message on the Brightwheel app and we will bring your child to you.
  • Remember: No handheld cell phones are allowed while driving in the TBS lot.

Bike Rodeo Tuesdays

Our ever popular bike rodeos are back! New this year, we will be providing scooters for older children to use and ride on toys for younger ones. If your child is old enough to use a scooter, usually age two, please plan to drop off a helmet with your child every Tuesday. We will be turning the TBS parking lot into a riding track. If your child would like to bring a bike, trike, or scooter from home, they are also welcome! Remember to label everything in large, clear letters to help us stay organized.

Lunch Orders

Needham Public Schools have invited us to join in on their summer bag lunches, starting on Monday, June 28. Lunches will be delivered to TBS fresh each morning and include a main dish, milk, fruit and veggie. None of the lunches contain nuts or peanuts. Friday lunches contain sesame. Thank you to the Needham Public Schools and the USDA for providing this free service! These lunches are a national initiative to support farmers around the country and keep local workers employed. Your participation supports these efforts. If you would like to donate the cost of what you would otherwise pay for lunches to support for dinners for local hungry children, you can do that online.  Once you sign up, please add the dates to your calendar. In order to keep the program logistically manageable on the TBS end, we are not able to send additional reminders of your schedule. Review the menu and sign up here!

Summer Orientation

Especially children newly beginning their TBS Children's Center experience, we want to offer several ways to support the process.

  • Cubby Visits: Short classroom visits with a parent or other adult will take place on Friday, June 18 from 11am-12pm. Sign up forms will arrive in your inbox next week.
  • New Parent Phone Calls: Teachers will be reaching out to new families a few days before the summer program begins.
  • New Parent Orientation: Is your family attending TBS Children's Center for the first time? Do you have questions? Join us for an opportunity to hear about our summer routines, meet others, and ask questions on Thursday, June 17 from 7:30-8:15pm. Register here
  • More Information: Class lists, including teacher details and room locations, and our summer family directory, will be coming to your inbox next week.

100 Tuna Can Challenge

During this time of great need in our community, we have been challenged to collect 100 cans of tuna for the food pantry this summer. This is an opportunity for your child to take care of others. To participate, bring your cans any day!
