Vanity can motivate

Wanting to look a certain way or achieve certain skills can be the motivation you need to stay consistent. Try intentionally checking yourself out in the mirror, right after a workout, or snapping a video of your skill-progress and sharing it. We don’t have to look a certain way to feel good. We feel good first. But then looking good can support our good feelings we’ve already created.

I’m now certified in Yin Yoga

You can think of yoga in two main categories: yin and yang. Yang yoga works on the muscles, while yin works on the connective tissue. Specifically, Yin is a seated/reclined, passive practice where postures are held from 2-10 minutes. Consider yin for your weekly recovery day.

Buzzword on my mind: Destination-Based Happiness

This is the idea that happiness is just around the corner. It’s in the next purchase, trip or relationship. It’s after you reach your next goal. It’s full of “if only”, “once”, “as soon as”, and “as long as”. It’s conditional. Instead of viewing happiness as a place perpetually two exits away on a never-ending highway of ambition, let’s breathe into this beautiful, unraveling now.

Quote of the Month:

“No one should be going to debt, where it’s emotional or financial, to support other people. We need to give what we have to give. Taking care of yourself basic physical needs and also your emotional needs is going to keep you from getting burned out, it’s going to keep you from resenting people, and it’s going to allow you to fully show up for people and be generous, kind and good-spirited when you do.”
