Some of you will have heard that my father, already facing Lewy Body dementia, had a heart attack this week. I am with him at the hospital in Nashville as I write, where he has recovered well, but he will likely need both a short term placement and then in-home care which I am working on arranging. I am grateful to the rest of the staff for stepping in at this difficult time, and I will be back to celebrate Pentecost with you on Sunday (wear red!). In my absence, the Vestry discussed options for continued loosening of Covid restrictions as of the end of this month, a discussion on which I will need to be updated when I return. I do ask your prayers, and am grateful to have the assurance that as we are told in Romans 8, "nothing can separate us from the Love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."
This Week's Highlights
WEAR RED FOR PENTECOST!
The feast of Pentecost will be celebrated both Sunday May 23 (with the Baptism of Pepper Crofts) and Wednesday May 26. Don't forget to wear something red in honor of the Fire of the Holy Spirit!

SIGN UP FOR MASS!
The capacity at both Masses is now 40 people, with RSVPs still required. The 10 a.m. Sunday and 5:15 p.m. Wednesday online services require no RSVP and have a capacity of 100. When worshipping in person, thank you for being mindful of maintaining safe distance, and looking around you to make sure you are choosing a location that is not too close to others.

SOLAR PANEL INSTALLATION
This week workers have been on the flat Mowry roof installing the solar panels we announced at Annual Meeting; this exciting project is funded by an anonymous donor plus a grant from Faith in Place. We are thrilled to be able to witness to God's care for our environment while also saving on our utility bills. Watch for information on a celebration and blessing event.

WELCOME PAUL COEY!
On May 30, Trinity Sunday, our guest Deacon at Mass will be the Rev. Paul Coey, whom many will remember as a former lay leader of our 20s-30s ministry as well as a recipient of a Herbst Scholarship whom Emmanuel commissioned for hospital chaplaincy. A native of C-U, Deacon Paul now serves as a transitional deacon in the Diocese of Fond du Lac and the Chaplain at SSM Health there.

SUMMER GATHERINGS?
A few summers running, Emmanuel held small outdoor grill parties at members’ homes, all on the same day. Perhaps 8 different hosts welcomed mixed groups of parishioners to their backyards and provided a main grill item, while others brought side dishes and desserts. We called it the Emmanuel Grillfest. This model is very Covid-friendly, and something like it might be worth reviving for summer 2021, if there are a couple of parishioners who value community and hospitality enough to be willing to take on organizing the overall event. Speak with any of the pastoral staff if this is you!

Parish Calendar

IN A PASTORAL EMERGENCY - If you or a family member are in the hospital or have another personal emergency, please let the clergy know; they are ready to visit or assist. If the office is closed, please leave the information (including which hospital) in one of their personal office voicemail boxes or on a home phone. Emmanuel can also arrange to have meals provided; just ask!

SCHEDULE INFORMATION -
Emmanuel's ministry staff seek health for both themselves and the parish culture by taking regular time off. MOTHER BETH is off on Fridays. DEACON CHRIS is in the office Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings MARISA CROFTS is off on Mondays. Voice mail may be left in their boxes at any time.

OFFICE HOURS -
The church office is open limited hours weekday mornings for work that cannot be done remotely. At other times our staff will continue fulfilling all their ministry responsibilities from home, including actively responding to email and phone messages.
