Springtime is such a wonderful time of the year. There is always so much to celebrate: Mothers, Fathers, and Graduates. I love the rhythms of the school year ending and summer vacation beginning. And in the midst of this spring flowers are blooming, gardens are being planted, and lawn mowers are buzzing.
Life is not yet back to “normal” after the pandemic, and I’m willing to admit that I’m not sure going completely back to “normal” (whatever that was) is a good idea. We’ve learned a lot in the past year. Thanks to the wide-spread distribution of vaccines, life is opening up again and we can see a future that is beginning to be a bit more clear.
Next Sunday (May 23) we will celebrate the Day of Pentecost, fifty days after Easter when the Holy Spirit descended on the disciples and sent them out into the world empowered to continue Christ’s mission. The Holy Spirit remains with us twenty centuries later, empowering us, guiding us, leading us through the rhythms and seasons of life, good times and bad times into the bright future God has planned for us in His Kingdom. So let us pray, as we do every Sunday, “Thy Kingdom Come… AMEN”
Worship is at 10:45 AM. Please enter thru the alley side door.
Masks required. The service is available online by 1 PM on the church website, www.firstprescarlisle.org; on the church Facebook site; or on YouTube at "Sunday on the Square."
Next Sunday (23rd) is Pentecost Sunday. Wear "flame" colors to church. Worship includes Communion. The Deacons will serve Home Communion to our homebound members that afternoon.
NOTE: We will switch to 10 AM worship on Memorial Day Sunday, May 30th.
We continue to be Project SHARE's soup church.
