MISSION UPDATE

Did you know there are 160 holidays in May? There are the traditional holidays, Memorial Day and Mother's Day but there are also the obscure ones, National Frog Jumping Day and World Math Day. The holiday we love to celebrate, especially this year, is National Nurse Day. The heart of the healthcare sector are nurses and first responders, often the first and last person a patient sees during a healthcare visit. Nurses are truly the rockstars! WE THANK YOU!!!
During these challenging times, 1 FUR 1 Foundation will continue to provide free online animal related engagements to anyone in need. If you or someone you know is struggling and needs a virtual visit from a furry friend, please contact us. We plan for all animal assisted therapy and activity programs to be back working at 100% by the fall of 2021.

ANIMAL ASSISTED ACTIVITY

We now know that different parts of the country try to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic at different rate. Therefore, our animal assisted activity programs in the Midwest won’t return until fall but programs located in the Southern part of the U.S.A. (CA, FL, TN, SC and NC) have started to open their facilities to volunteers who offer relief to their patients, medical staff and first responders. ANIMAL ASSISTED THERAPY

Most animal assisted therapy programs are essential and remain operational at reduce capacity and provide support to child crime victims who are going through the court system in Michigan and stable learning environment for children with Autism and other disabilities in Southern California. Just last month, Joy, who joined out program this year relied on Tori to help her focus, relax and engage with Tori - the amazing mini horse, Piper - the therapy mini pig and Oatmeal - the baby goat. There is a lot to celebrate during the month of May! Elmer and Picasso are turning 7 years old, these amazing mini horses live in Florida at Kindred Spirits Therapy Minis. But that's not all, Ozzie and Eco from Canine Advocacy Program in Michigan and Millie, the therapy mini donkey from Hearts and Hooves Therapy in SoCal as well as Norman from Furry Friends Recovery in IL are all celebrating their birthdays this month.
