Arbor Day 2021
On Arbor Day 2021 - Friday, April 30th -, Staff from the Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department had the opportunity to start a conversation with the third grade class at McAuliffe Elementary School on the importance of trees. Two trees were planted on school grounds thanks to support from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the American Transmission Company. Educational outreach is one of the many responsibilities of the Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department. Currently the Department manages a public tree canopy of over 4,300 trees. The Department is estimating to oversee the planting of an additional 450 trees in 2021. Of the 450 trees, 150 will be replacing Ash trees that were removed by Staff during this Winter’s EAB mitigation efforts.
