Live Zoom Gallery Talk with Alice Hargrave

Alice Hargrave will hold a conversational gallery talk with Juliet Moderow and Barry Treu as they explore her installation, The Suffragette Conference of the Birds after Farīd Attar. A site-specific photographic installation with immersive audio and fabrics uses sound wave patterns of bird calls printed in each species' natural hues Courtesy of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. This recent work presents a gathering of several female birds by weaving together their particular vocalizations - referencing both the iconic Persian poem from 1177 — The Conference of the Birds, and, the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th amendment granting women the right to vote. Questions and comments will be taken from the Zoom audience.
