Well, We Are Closer to That Time....
What Time?
Co-Opting TIme!
We would like to start bringing in a few parents in the school space during childrens' hours. Wondering how you all are feeling about that? Let's start off slow, a couple parents a day.
How it works:
We'll begin May 24, 2021. This gives time for parents to sign up, and also time to let the office know if anyone is feeling uncomfortable with having a parent in their child's bubble. Please call me, directly, if you have questions. We want to respect everyone's thoughts and needs.
How to volunteer:
- We are asking that parents are vaccinated and at least 30 days out from the last vaccine. Please send a photo of your vaccine card to the office if you haven't already.
- The shifts start at 9:00 am and end around 1:00 pm. At this time those 4 hours will be applied to your service hours. What a great way to get the hours done.
- You may only sign up to work in your child's bubble. The bubbles are color coded.
- You may work the entire shift, or just part of one (please note any partial shifts in the sign up sheet).

The Power Of Words:
May 18 at 7:00 with Jane Walker
A message from our speaker:
As you have undoubtedly learned, you cannot control your child’s behavior- you cannot control your child’s desires or willfulness- but you can control how you handle these things, and what drives your reaction and your child’s response often comes down to your words and HOW you communicate them.
This talk will not be about the power if positive attitude or positive words- let’s face it- we are in the business of raising children and this is not always a positive experience- sometimes not so positive words are necessary. In these cases, how you choose and measure your use of words is even more crucial.
We will talk about:
- The importance of how you say what you say
- Choosing the proper words for the proper occasion
- What to do when you slip up
- What to do the first time your child says one of your no-no words
When Joyce asked me to do this talk, I thought, seriously? You couldn’t have me do the screen time talk? That one is backed by science and so much more straightforward, and by the way, has she forgotten that my own youngest child’s first word was dammit!?
Then, I took a pause and is my nature, I said "Sure I’ll do it!" I wanted to help my friend out and ultimately share what we both learned from the fabulous Hal Urban at a convention way back in the early 2000’s.
