Voter rights and American democracy are under attack. The passage of undemocratic legislation in Georgia and Florida heralds a renewed onslaught of state bills that will restrict access to the ballot box, disenfranchise primarily Black, brown, young, and low-income citizens, and undermine our democracy from within. Texas, where it is already difficult to vote, just advanced a key bill that will impose a raft of new election restrictions. There will be more. The time to act is NOW!

We invite you to make some good trouble between the 8th – 11th of May. Join the DAUK Black Caucus and hundreds of organizations stateside as we raise awareness around and contact Senators to amplify support for S1: For the People Act (S1), HR4: John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (HR4), D.C. Admissions Act (H.R. 51). Our representatives also need to address the issue of the filibuster, a vestige of American chattel slavery and Jim Crow, which still presents a great hindrance to getting these laws passed. We want democracy to work for all Americans. The For the People Act is currently being marked up in committee. Now is exactly the right time to tell your senators that you are concerned about democracy being under threat and that you, therefore, want to see these bills passed.
