Carers Week 7 - 13 June 2021

#carersweek #ICARE @GatesheadCarers
Making Caring
VISABLE and Valued

Hello Everyone,

We’re so excited to share our plans with you for Carers Week 2021 (7-13th June). We have a week packed with events and activities and we hope very much that you will be able to join in.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
  • Make a pledge for Carers Week on our digital message board
  • Hold your own Tea in your Park fun and fundraiser. It’s a chance to get together with friends over a cuppa and cake and to help raise funds for Gateshead Carers at the same time!
  • If you love walking then why not join in with one of our Walking Challenges!  If walking 13 miles along Hadrian’s Wall is not for you, but you would love to set your own walk challenge, then why not do your own thing in our 25,000 Steps Challenge! All you need to do is choose one of the 25,000 step challenges at a pace that works for you and complete it by Sunday 13th June.
  • If you are feeling creative why not join us for our Creative Minds and June Jamboree when you can try your hand at bottle painting, paper mache and challenge your mind in Paul’s Quiz!
  • Find out about Writers Who Care and join the launch event with live readings and a short film!
  • Use your social media platforms to get involved by using the hashtags #carersweek #ICARE and @GatesheadCarers so carers know where to access local support.  Share and retweet our posts.
By visiting our website you can Book your places, set up your own Fundraising Page and download our special Fundraising Pack

We really look forward to walking and talking together with you for carers!
Thank you for helping to make caring more visible and valued.

Writers Who Care

Hello! We would like to invite you to the launch event for Writers Who Care, an anthology written by us, a group of unpaid carers living in the North East. This event is taking place during Carers Week 2021 in partnership with Gateshead Carers.

Writers Who Care is a collection of short stories, poems and songs that tell our story and give you a glimpse into our lives. Since January 2021, a group of us have been meeting regularly online to take part in creative writing sessions with Liv Hunt. The aim of these sessions was to have a space where we could listen, be heard, connect and support one another. We weren’t too sure what to expect but we all knew we had a story to tell and the want to get our voices heard.  And after weeks of connecting, thinking, talking and writing this is what we have created. An anthology which gives a window into our world. And now we would like to share it with you.

As part of the event, we will be talking a little bit about our individual journeys through taking part in the programme, a viewing of a film which documents our process, a few live readings of work created during the course and then a Q&A. We would really love for you to be there.

This project was supported and funded by Helix Arts, Gateshead Council Arts Team and Well Newcastle Gateshead.
If you enjoy walking why not join in with one of our walking challenges!
