TODAY -- Sidewalk Snow Clearing Trial Public Information Event
Tuesday, May 11, from 7 - 8.30 pm
Up to now, downtown Toronto has been excluded from having its sidewalks cleared by the city. With quite a bit of prodding, including by our own Bob Stambula, Transportation Services undertook a trial this past winter to test smaller snow clearing machines on tight downtown sidewalks. The results will be presented at a number of evening events this week. Residents of Ward 11 are invited to attend Tuesday, May 11, from 7 - 8.30 pm.You can register here to attend the Zoom event live, which will include a Q&A.
If you are unable to attend one of the virtual events, you can still view the presentation and submit questions or comments to City staff by phone 416-392-3087, email or mail. This is an opportunity to advocate for better winter service in our neighbourhood!
HVRA Board Profiles: Gina Buonaguro - South East Area Rep
Gina Buonaguro has lived on Robert Street since 2003 with her husband and two children. Their cat, Nym, joined them in 2020. Gina is a writer and editor. With a passion for reading historical fiction and watching historical movies and series, she has co-authored six novels and is currently working on a solo novel set in Renaissance Venice. Besides its central location and leafy canopy, one of the things she most enjoys about living in Harbord Village is its history. She was thrilled to meet at a dinner party a few years ago the historian Irving Abella, who grew up on Robert Street in the 1940s, and she loves hearing stories told by her older neighbours about what it was like to live here. [Readers who want to learn more about local history can check out the Harbord Village History page.]

Correction
Incorrect information appeared in the last eblast regarding the Avenue Road Food Bank. Below is the original, accurate item from the Annex Residents' Association newsletter. We regret the error.
"Terri Chu is looking for volunteers to become involved in distributed gardening in support of the Avenue Road food bank. If you know your arugula from your dandelion, she’d love to have you help with cultivation. Those who prefer just to watch might have a plot of land the volunteers can cultivate? If you would like to get involved with this and other neighbourhood projects, please get in touch with Terri at parksandtrees@theara.org."
