Peeking our heads out of the soil

Circuit breaker got us resting, slowing down and changing directions for the summer. Summer servings and garden projects are on pause while NS is in lockdown but we still have food security in our mind!

We have some plans to get you planting, writing, driving, eating together in the summer! Coming next is detailed info on events, volunteer and job opportunities!

LADLE GARDEN NETWORK
A seed/supply and support sharing group for growing food in your backyard! If you are located in K'jipuktuk and would like help starting your garden you can fill this google form, join our Facebook gardening group, and join us every Tuesday at 5pm on instagram for our weekly garden check-ins!

FOOD BOXES ARE BACK!
Students in Halifax, NS can sign up here to receive a biweekly free market box from the Halifax Brewery Market, organized  by Farmer's Market NS Nourishing Communities Program, The Loaded Ladle and Halifax Brewery Farmer's Market for the next four months! 

SUPPER WITH THE LADLE
A weekly supper club through May and June, to help keep us all connected. This week will be the first: join in through zoom for casual chats & recipe swaps. We are looking into the possibility of gift cards to help with purchasing ingredients for next week: stay tuned!

Virtual Volunteering: We are looking for virtual volunteers year-round! We have some tasks available on our website or you can always email us your ideas at volunteer@loadedladle.com
We need drivers! We are looking for drivers to help out delivering garden packs for our garden project & food boxes from the Historic Farmer's Market! We can offer compensation for mileage!
DSU Food Bank is looking for a groceries pick up person. Time: Monday mornings, weekly (if possible) 9am-10am at Atlantic Superstore on Barrington St. and Atlantic Wholesalers on Coburg Rd. This is volunteer only, we do have access from to time to the use of a gas card for a tank fill up.  If interested, contact dsufoodbank@dal.ca

NSPIRG is hiring a passionate and social media-savvy Community Organizer/Content Creator to join our team for the summer! (Remote paid position for 10 weeks).
DUGS is hiring a part-time intern for the campus urban garden. The position will provide support on various fronts for the DUGS executive team in the 2021 gardening season. The rate of pay will be $20/hour for 15hrs/week. They are also offering various grants and hosting great workshops this summer! Links below!
