Ascension Day Picnic and Service | May 13
|
|
Saint Peter Lutheran Church and School invites our school families to join us in our Ascension Day festivities this Thursday, May 13. Our men's group HALO is hosting a cookout, with hot dogs and sides, in the Gorman Park shelter. Families and kids can get out to enjoy a FREE meal, socialize, play games, and use the playground from 4:00-6:00 p.m. After the picnic we will have our Ascension festival service in the church at 6:30 p.m.
Why the celebration? Thursday is the day we celebrate our Lord Jesus ascending into heaven 40 days after he rose from the dead. This is major good news for the Christian Church. Our Savior reigns in glory and he has all power and authority to protect his people. We've just seen that truth play out in real life as we have enjoyed a school year of safety during a pandemic. We have great reasons to celebrate!
So please join us at our picnic on Thursday and then sing to our ascended Lord at the 6:30 p.m. Ascension service. Please help us plan this event by pre-registering HERE.
A final invitation... This Thursday night we will begin a fresh round of our Bible Information Class at 7:30 p.m. If you as a parent have wondered about some of the Bible teachings in our classrooms, this is an opportunity to get some answers in a relaxed atmosphere with others. Or if you have just wondered what the Bible is about, here is your chance to learn. There are no obligations or costs. The class will meet in the Commons room of Saint Peter Lutheran on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. Call or email Pastor Kelly if you have any questions (224.430.3925/jkelly@saintpeterlutheran.org).
