Te Ngākau, Wellington’s Civic Precinct, contains key public buildings, spaces and pathways in the central city’s open space network. With increasing numbers of people living in the central city, public space has become vitally important in enabling freedom of movement and spontaneity in events and relationships. Vital and resilient communities need shared and useable spaces, not by default but through proactive advocacy and governance. So, what should the Precinct become?

CONSULTATION TO HAVE RESIDENT PARKING INCLUDED IN CAR-SHARING

Mevo Car Sharing is currently working with WCC to have Residents parking included in their car sharing permits, meaning Mevo members can start and stop their Mevo trips in Residents parks. This is good for both;
·        residents with private cars (as a recent WCC survey found for every Mevo vehicle deployed, 11.4 vehicle are taken off the road opening up more parking for the private vehicles
  • & residents who choose to use Mevo (if residents parks are included in our permits) will be able to park in the spaces closer to their homes.
This is important for all areas of the city, and particularly for those areas switch a high proportion of residents parking.

ICW encourages members to consider this and to complete this submission in support of the inclusion of residents parking into the Mevo permits.

If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to call or email Mevo.
As always Mevo is thankful for your ongoing support in helping them deliver on their mission to build more beautiful & liveable cities through providing a better alternative to private car ownership.
