Sri Lanka

1. Please pray for the building projects in Chunnakam and Neervely. The Neervelic Church has started their services in the unfinished building.

2. There were 11 water baptisms during the Good Friday Service (Easter weekend) from Chunnakam & Neervely churches. Despite the lockdowns, the church was given special permission to hold the baptisms.  Glory to God!
3. We are preparing an abandoned house which was given to the church for a House church in a village called Keerimala. This used to be a very strong Hindu village with large historical temples and worship places. At the seashore of this village thousands of Hindus gather monthly and annually to pray and do rituals for their parents who passed away.  This place was occupied by the military for more than 25 years as a high security zone, and now the government is allowing people to resettle.  Please pray as we are planning to start a church in this area soon.

4.  Humanitarian works  are being continued among the Vanni region as we seek to plant more village churches.

5. New full time workers are coming forth to serve the Saviour.  We need your prayer and support to release them into new church plantings.

6.  Across Sri Lanka, there were not many people affected with Covid19 but now with the second wave, the numbers have been increasing.  Sri Lankans are facing lockdowns and many other restrictions. Despite these restrictions, the church is growing. For more information on these church and how to support, please contact: Home - Living Light Church

HAITI

Challenges

Ruth, Grahyyah, and Ayinayyah were driving home from school and narrowly escaped being kidnapped by four men following them in a pickup truck. Ruth managed to lose them by maneuvering through some side streets and finding refuge in the Church Community Centre. The children were traumatized. John is trying to arrange for his family to spend their summer in the USA to avoid a repeat of what is now a common event in Haiti.
In addition, COVID is now becoming a crisis in the country. A young woman, one of the church members died last week leaving behind a young family.

We continue to uphold the family and their church for their safety and well-being.

But God

In spite of the toxic spiritual and social environment, John says he can feel revival in the air. Their church is still able to meet with some restrictions and is engaging the community in monthly outreach events and regular Sunday Services.

PETIT GOAVE, HAITI

The church in Haiti is going strong.  The Coronavirus pandemic has not severely impacted Haiti and the Haitian people. But unfortunately, we are still facing political unrest across the country.  Additionally, the increased amount of kidnapping that spares no one creates fear in the population and anger at the seeming indifference of the government.

We have had to pause all of our projects that we have for our church.  We continue to believe that God will intervene in Haiti.   Here are some photos of some recent worship service celebrations.   Please continue to join with us in praying for the country of Haiti.  Please stay safe and healthy!  And may God bless you richly, Jean Claude Menard.

Brazil

Report from Pastor Daniel,
President of the Apostolic Church
in Brazil

Dear fellow brothers, sisters, pastors and members of the Apostolic Church in Canada.

Greetings in the precious Name of our Saviour!

Besides being President of our church in Brazil I also am the senior lead pastor of the Apostolic Church in Vila Velha, in the state of Espirito Santo.

I have been asked to talk about the impact of the pandemic, as it relates to us personally, also to the church and how it has impacted our nation.

We find ourselves in a very difficult situation as this virus has worked havoc in our nation and has come to harm all sectors of society; economically, socially, spiritually, etc. Many thousands of people find themselves in very difficult circumstances. Almost 14% of the population are unemployed as they lost their jobs and have no way to support their families. The little help they get from the government is hardly enough to keep them alive and there are literally thousands of starving families in our nation as a result.

Speaking of health, the situation is very sad as this virus has taken many lives in Brazil. More than 400,000 people have died from this virus and many families have suffered the loss of a loved one. You can see on the countenance of those you meet the concern and anxiety they are experiencing and many are getting depressed by this situation.

Spiritually speaking, it has affected the church as well as many people have been shaken because they have lost loved ones and family members. Many have even asked why God allows this. However, the church continues to preach the gospel even behind closed doors and we have been able to do this by using technology and announcing the truth that way. Our church in Villa velha has really suffered a lot and we had to close for a period of time because about 15 families in our local church were personally infected, or had relatives that were infected with the virus. Many people were hospitalized and on ventilators and unfortunately some died. In the month of April alone there were four deaths of people from the church, or linked to the church. In just one week I went to the Cemetery three times myself and it caused us a lot of pain but in return we have seen miracles too. We could see the hand of God working in our midst and among our people. Some who were told by the doctors that there was no hope have recovered miraculously and the doctors have been dumbfounded. It’s through prayer and intercession that has moved the hand of God so that these people are with us again and rejoicing in the miracle working power of the Lord. My own family also was affected by the virus with almost all the members of my family testing positive. My wife Iracema was hardest hit and she suffered a lot. She didn't need to be hospitalized thank God but she is still suffering some lingering side effects with lack of air and so on. We’re looking to God for a complete recovery.

In spite of all, we know God is in control of all things and that He is working out His will and purpose through all this. Praise His Name!

Right now we are busy working to create new strategies for the post pandemic era in order to reach people with the Gospel. Many have become discouraged and weakened in their faith so we have a task ahead to recover them and reach others.

This virus has caused pain, tears and suffering in many people but we believe, by the Grace of God, it will hopefully pass soon. As we pray for you in Canada, we count on the prayers of our Canadian brothers and sisters on our behalf so that together we can move forward victorious in the grace of the Lord!

A great hug to you all! May you be blessed in Christ Jesus – Amen.
