Commons News

It's been a busy month for the Commons librarians, working on projects to increase access to valuable organising resources and online advocacy training. Our dedicated volunteers have been doing great work maintaining the site and developing new guides we'll be sharing soon.

We're excited to let you know that Commons historian Iain McIntyre has a new book, Environmental Blockades: Obstructive Direct Action and the History of the Environmental Movement. It offers the first comprehensive history and analysis of environmental blockading in Australia, Canada and the US. You can also read Iain's insights accompanied by inspiring photos in Blockades that Changed Australia on the Commons.

For this edition of the newsletter we thought we'd share some of the excellent feedback we've been receiving lately, and connect you with the resources each of these activists especially appreciate.

Timely Resources for Movement Moments

'When we went into lockdown my team needed information to make the necessary changes to online meetings and tactics that worked with physical distancing. The Commons delivered curated resources for that moment, as well as recently to support action about gendered violence. Research Support for Campaign Guides

'I was recently putting together a guide on how to name a new campaign but I wanted to know if there was existing research and analysis.
