Kwanzaa Week – High on the Hog
We look forward to bringing to the Texas A&M campus Netflix’s High on the Hog: How African American Cuisine Transformed America. The event will include a Q&A with the documentaries series host and a recorded video from the Fulbright Scholar in Benin. The Q&A will be lead by one of Texas A&M's faculty members, Dr. Gatson. At conclusion of the Q&A and closing remarks, we will host a soulful sampling. We will delve into the episodes “Our Roots” and “Freedom” that trace the delicious foods, moving through lines from Africa to Texas.
This event will be FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Embodies the African proverb that it takes a village to raise a child, but our intent is to raise awareness about social issues.
Join MSC WBAC for Soulful Sunday - a dinner and conversation program. This 2021-2022 season MSC WBAC's The Village Subcommittee will host five speakers that will present on this season’s theme - "A&M Excellence.” This year’s series will highlight the success of the A&M Community with speakers from our community to share their personal stories about achievement. With the concept of “it takes a village” in mind, Soulful Sunday welcomes the community to share a meal and have thoughtful conversation.

Educates on Black history and matters involving the vast cultures and people of the African Diaspora.
Do you like to travel? Interested in learning more about African American culture? Why don’t you consider spending your spring break with MSC WBAC as we travel to our nation’s capital, Washington DC. During this trip, you will be exposed to several aspects of Black history; whether it be African art, visiting Black historical figures’ homes – we are going to our namesake’s home – Dr. Carter G. Woodson, campus tour of Howard University, the National Museum of African American Culture & History, or being surrounded by the urban DC culture in general, you will learn a lot about the African diaspora. This trip is part of MSC WBAC’s Homeward to My Heritage initiative and fulfills our committee’s purpose of providing educational programming, community-building, and enriching experiences that enhance the understanding of the culture and contributions of people of African descent and their impact on society. Student cost - $1,000.
Applications closes September 15
