FAQs:

Who can get this vaccine? Any Tanque Verde Pediatrics Patient aged 12 and Up

Is it recommended that my child, aged 12 & up, get the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine? YES. We are recommending the vaccine for all of our patients in this age group (pending ACIP agreement, see below).

Are you giving this vaccine to parents as well? Not at this time, but stay tuned and informed as this may change in the future.

Can my child with asthma get the vaccine?  YES! There is no contraindication to the vaccine other than allergy to any of its components. We recommend that any child with any immune suppression or dysfunction, any chronic illness (respiratory or otherwise) or any child age 12 & up get this vaccine.

Can my child who has already had Covid-19 disease get vaccinated? Yes and it is recommended that they do. As long as they are asymptomatic on the day of vaccine and out at least 10 days from diagnosis, they can move forward with vaccination.

If my child has a fever or is sick on the day of vaccination, can they get the vaccine? No. Please do not send any sick children in for a vaccine. They will be turned away for a medical assessment.

Can I preview the allergy list and questionnaire to make sure my child is eligible?   YES! Click here:  https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/covid-19/downloads/pre-vaccination-screening-form.pdf

How do I sign my child up? Just click the link above! Each child needs a separate form to sign up for the vaccine. You will be able to come to your child with the EARLIEST appointment to get your family done at one time.

Can my child who drives come by themselves? Yes. The form has a consent form within it, so if you are comfortable sending your child in by themselves, we will monitor them for 15 minutes as recommended prior to letting them go.

Is this vaccine approved by the ACIP?  May 12th is the meeting to formally recommend the vaccine for children 12 & up. We anticipate the approval 5/12/2021 and will be holding the clinic as if this will have happened.

What if we can't come on 6/12 or 6/13 for my child's second dose? It is recommended that your child come back 21 days after their first vaccine for the second dose. If you are not in town or available that day, please call around to other locations as soon as possible after that day to get the second shot. It is possible that you may be able to come to TVP at a later date for the second shot. Please talk to your primary doctor about that option.
