MiCCA is officially a 501(c)3!

Thank you to MiCCA member, Amy Rogghe, for being an integral part of the chapter development team and MiCCA as a whole!

Amy brings energy and urgency to our work recruiting new members and engaging healthcare professionals. She was  persistent and relentless inviting healthcare system personnel to our "Decarbonizing Healthcare Webinar" and asking them to join MiCCA. She was also  instrumental in setting up Grand Rounds at Spectrum Health 5/27.  Amy will be one of the MiCCA lobbyists at the Annual MSCCH Lobby days this month also.

In addition, Amy is active in the Grand rapids climate awareness scene and part of the GR Climate Resolution Coalition, representing MiCCA.  They are currently trying to push through a Resolution that the city council will approve which declares a state of climate emergency and pledges to be carbon neutral by 2030. Amy just became trained as a Climate Leader by Al Gores Climate Reality Project. She is also currently in the Health Leaders Fellowship Program training through the Ecology Center. Along with all else Amy does for climate action, her major initiative currently is trying to get legislation proposed and passed that will ban the sale of new ICE vehicles in MI by 2030.

We are so fortunate to have Amy as a MiCCA Member!

A big thanks to Kate Johnson for putting together MiCCAs flyer!

MiCCA signed this letter urging the MPSC to include climate (1/120 organizations). Earlier this week, the Michigan Public ServiceCommission ruled to include the impacts of climate change in their review of Enbridge's proposed oil tunnel.

We signed this letter to regarding IRP to Consumers Energy, thank you to Julie Quinn for her work on this initiative!

Take on big jobs worth doing — jobs like the spread of love, peace, and justice. That means refusing to be seduced by our cultural obsession with being effective as measured by short-term results. We all want our work to make a difference — but if we take on the big jobs and our only measure of success is next quarter’s bottom line, we’ll end up disappointed, dropping out, and in despair. - Parker Palmer
