The Latest for New York City Tourism

It's getting hard to keep up. With the city's COVID infection rate below 2% and falling fast, reopening announcements are piling up, and Broadway is leading the pack. Hamilton. Lion King. Wicked. All back September 14th. Tickets on sale today. Capacity will be 100%. And further premieres and returns are close behind, including Broadway's longest-runner The Phantom of the Opera. Dr. Fauci has announced that, as vaccinations increase, relaxation of indoor mask requirements will follow. Broadway's return will change the city's dynamic for tourism dramatically. The savvy move of offering vaccinations to visitors will further help the travel market. Broadway is the big story this week, but many other fresh starts are on the horizon: In a few days, Citi Field and Yankee Stadium will lift all capacity limits for fully vaccinated fans. Tech company Morning Consult is tracking sentiment and their most recent numbers show comfort levels with public events have reached pandemic-era highs. With large gatherings, theatre, and culture returning to NYC, tourism is not far behind.

Pride 2021: Rockefeller Center to Host the Ultimate NYC Weddings for Five LGBTQ+ Couples

In celebration of Pride, and to help kick off NYC’s post-pandemic summer of love, Rockefeller Center has opened submissions for “Love Above All.” This annual tradition is this year featuring “Love Above All Weddings,” offering five couples ceremonies at 620 Loft & Garden, the center's private rooftop garden overlooking St. Patrick’s and Fifth Avenue. Following the ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests will be treated to a champagne toast and wedding cake at the Rainbow Room, where they will be entertained by a star of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” Each couple will also get a wedding photoshoot at Top of the Rock Observation Deck, amid 360-degree skyline views. Couples can submit their application here; admissions close June 1st and the winners will be announced June 4th.
