South Dublin County Council Area Update
The SDCC group have been working on two significant consultations this month; the Dodder Road Lower (DRL) Consultation and the Canal Loop Urban Greenway Consultation. These two schemes are important leisure and commuter routes, we look forward to seeing progress on them.
We also hear that South Dublin County Council has secured €1 million for maintenance of cycle tracks in 2021. The council have launched a survey on parks usage.
We would encourage you to complete the survey (open until 21 May).

It is 2021, and the cycle routes in Ireland are not yet good enough. Cyclist.ie has created a tool that can be used by designers to make sure every aspect of good cycle route design is covered, and it can also be used by people on bikes to meaningfully let those designers know what does or does not work. Read all about it and try it out http://cyclist.ie/crac/
On 26 May, running from 9.30 to 11.00am, there will be a special webinar on Public Consultation on Active Travel projects - with a focus on exploring what best practice is and what the barriers are to making it the norm in Ireland

The COVID-19 pandemic has shown cities around the world the need for more resilient and equitable mobility systems. This will be crucial not only to weather the pandemic but also to fight climate change and to address the deepening inequalities in many urban areas worldwide.
The European Cyclists’ Federation and the Dutch Cycling Embassy are pleased to invite you to Celebrating Cycling Cities, a two-hour event during which representatives from European cities and EU institutions will debate and share best practices for how to shape more cycle-friendly urban mobility systems. On Tuesday, 1 June 2021, 2pm to 4pm (Irish time).
