Dear BBA Friends,
The 2020-2021 school year is coming to an end. We at Bankhead Boys Association commend our young men that have worked through this difficult year. Countless times throughout the year, our staff and mentors have had group and individual conversations with them about the difficulties of their current academic environments. There were times when some weren't attending classes, and were involved in other activities that won't advance their academic careers. As adults, our job is to help them see the bigger picture. This year was just a small obstacle on the road of life. As we move into summer months, we are looking forward continuing that motivation, along with giving them some fun activities that will help them recharge.
Best Regards,
Marcus Johnson

During the spring program period, our young men spent time learning some new life skills. This included learning how to create SMART Goals, basic household management, time management and basic job skills.
Our mentoring program has been moved over to our corporate sponsors' Miller Zell. They have been gracious enough to let the organization use space in their office through the summer to host all of our virtual mentoring sessions. We are hoping that we will be able to return to in-person mentoring this fall.
This summer, our mentoring and scouting programs will continue. The organization will start our summer swimming program in early June. Additionally we are planning on sending 12 our of boys to a week long summer camp.
We are also looking for summer employment opportunities for our boys. If you have a lead on any opportunity, please reach out to our Program Director LaFreddie Smith (lsmith@bankheadboys.org) with additional information.
