A very sad announcement

Recently we learned of the passing of our valued member, Prof. Songsri, Mahidol university, Thailand.
She co-organized the ISAGA 2016 conference in Bangkok, was co-host for a summer school, and contributed as an ISAGA Executive Board member. She is vice president and also general secretary of ThaiSim.

As ISAGA EB we like to express our deepest condolences. Prof. Songsri was a very valued member of our community and a very active contributor. We will miss her deeply. We wish strength to her family and friends around the world in dealing with this great loss.

Answers on questions coming to us from the google forms:

One of the comments we received was why not first start one group and then move on to more. This is a valid comment, for now we chose to start more theme groups at the same time (and of course you can take part in more than one, this was another question we received)

Another new Special Interest Group By em prof Jan Klabbers on Game Science!
We had a nice suggestion to use a forum for exchanging information and having discussions, thank you for this good suggestion. Yes, we will facilitate this when groups are starting we will discuss what platforms to use and how we will communicate on the proceedings of the sigs.

Em Prof. Dr Jan Klabbers announced another Special interest group on Game Science
As a frame of reference for this group Jan proposes the special issue of the Journal Simulation & Gaming: “On the architecture of Game Science”, vol. 49, Number 3, June 2018, as a frame of reference.

Website update

As some of you may have seen, the website www.isaga.com has changed. We We (Elena, Sebas, Marieke and Nettie) are still working on its contents and format. For low cost and adaptability we now chose to work with wordpress. We are thinking of ways how to make it more inviting, how to give you members a place to present yourself and show your interest and of course the marketing on the web. If you have any suggestions, ideas or contributions feel free to contact us. And we could really use an extra pair of hands!

We have been working steadily on having more regular and interesting newsletters, starting up the sigs, formalizing the administration of ISAGA and of course supporting the conference, so there’s a lot of work on our hands and we can use any help we can get. We feel ISAGA is a very warm and valuable community and we do our best to be a welcoming organization and our work rewards, we are already attracting new members. NASAGA has been helping us advertising the conference and the special interest groups. We invite all Saga’s to spread the news of events and handing in interesting information for our members and we know many saga’s already have been doing this, thanks a lot! This helps us staying a flourishing community.
