Meet the New Kids!

As you know, we said farewell to Thomas Gray and his family over the last couple of weeks. It’s truly been a mixed bag of emotions, especially for our staff, as we were sad to see a valuable and well-loved staff member leave, but happy for the opportunity they have to be near many family members. Thomas was just the right person in the right place at the right time for RVCC as we pivoted to a digital ministry emphasis at the advent of Covid. Thomas, Michelle and their boys will be missed!

What we remain incredibly thankful for is that God had already prepared the hearts (and availability!) of three different people to step in and use their gifts to help RVCC thrive in this next season. All three have agreed to be a part of an interim plan that will allow us to take a step back and develop a staffing plan for the long-term without having to be reactionary. This is truly a gift, and we are grateful. Many of you already know them, but we wanted to introduce them to you today!

Krystal Chiarolla was already a high-capacity volunteer leader in multiple roles at RVCC. In the interim, she will be our Digital Strategist, overseeing digital and media production, and our social media presence and development.

Noah MacDonald brings a passion for ministry and was already beginning to serve on our media production team. Noah will work with Mike Parejo, Krystal, and our Teaching Team to produce RVCC Online, especially the online message element.

Katie Kinney is a familiar face and presence on our platform as a worship team member and worship leader. As a gifted vocalist with a contagious personality and heart for God, Katie will lead worship on a regular basis at both Graham and Parkland.

We are grateful for three gifted and servant-hearted individuals during this interim season. We asked each one to tell you a bit about themselves, and we hope that you'll introduce yourself and welcome them personally when you see them over the next few weeks!

I have been married to my superhero of a husband, Jesse Chiarolla, for 11-years. We have two awesome kiddos, Annie (9) and Trenton (7). Next to what I've taken on here at RVCC, I'm also a trained voice actor. While I have been attending RVCC off and on since it was Parkland Christian Church, I would say that Jesse and I have been attending steadily as a family for about three years now. I began volunteering by managing the RVCC social media platforms and helping lead Parkland Hospitality about two months ago.
The weirdest thing I have ever done was during my time as a Walt Disney World Cast Member. My friends and I went to go see a late-night showing of "Phantom of the Opera" at the France Pavilion inside of Epcot, something they often did for Cast Members. We decided to run through the park barefoot at 3:00am and jump through the puddles from the nightly pressure washing. Probably not the most sanitary thing, but hey, who else can tell that story?

I’m married to my wife Lindsey and we are obsessed with our big fluffy dog named Gus. We moved to the Pacific Northwest last September and began attending RVCC in November. We love the people and heart behind who RVCC is, and are excited to continue to grow here!

My favorite snack food are Takis, and I basically drink more coffee than water!

I’m 27 years old, and newly married to my sweet husband, Calyn, of just over 7 months. I currently work for the Tacoma School District at a middle school in the Counseling Office. I am originally from Colorado, but came to Washington to go to PLU. There, I met my best friend who brought me to RVCC where I have been attending/serving since 2014. I was a vocal performance major in college, and wanted to get plugged into the church, so I auditioned for the worship team and the rest is history!
If I could see anything out my bedroom window, I wish I could see the ocean. Coming from a land-locked state, I can’t get enough of the ocean. I love that it’s God’s reminder to keep breathing, and that He’s in control.
