Howdy, Hornets!
By Shelby Tolly
We are so close to the end of the semester — you can almost taste it! This week's newsletter includes this year's Best of Sac State, a preview of an upcoming virtual art exhibit about social justice, a movie review on “The Mitchells vs. The Machines,” my spicy take on EA's FIFA community, another great segment of Khalil's Virtual Venue and more! Be sure to read below and to see what dad joke I have in store for you!

Multimedia virtual art exhibit to feature ‘Expressions for Social Justice’

Sac State's Center on Race, Immigration and Social Justice will host a multimedia virtual art exhibit titled "Un/Equal Freedoms: Expressions for Social Justice" today! The exhibit will have 32 multimedia works with the theme of "unequal freedom" — the systemic and social inequalities faced by marginalized communities.

The works range from spoken word poetry to photography, and the exhibit is free to the public.

5 trends Sac State fashion students are wearing this spring
It's spring, y'all! You know what that means? Allergies, flowers and — fashion! So to kick it off, we listed five fashion trends we heard about from students!

The trends range from pastels (always a spring must) to '60s and '70s fashion — we don't recommend taking your grandparents' clothes for this trend!

6 Songs To Quit Your Job To: Khalil’s Virtual Venue

Music beat writer Khalil Bourgoub blessed us with another segment of his column, "Khalil's Virtual Venue." Here, Khalil shares music around a theme, moods, events and more.

In this week's edition, Khalil was feeling inspired after recently quitting his service job. With graduation season upon us and the pandemic being dampened by vaccinations, many of our readers might be doing the same.

Tune in to this playlist as you walk out of your job for the last time.

If you missed the last edition, check out Khalil's collection of alternative rock songs.
Level Up with Shelby: EA’s botched vow against racism
I had to guys. I had to do another spicy take on the gaming community! In my column, "Level Up with Shelby," I touch on video game-related topics, news and my takes on the gaming community.

This time, I focused on EA's FIFA franchise, its history with racism, and what the company should be doing to save its community.

Does ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ ending mean an MCU ‘reboot’?
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is changing, and our copy editors are here to debate if that change is good or bad. Editor in Chief-elect Jordan Parker and copy editor Alex Muegge are breaking down all the new MCU developments and how they affect the storyline of the franchise.

We also want to hear from you: is the MCU being rebooted? Vote in our poll at the end of the article to let us know.

REVIEW:  'The Mitchells vs. The Machines' is fittingly eccentric and heartfelt
Opinion writer Bradley Hinkson reviews the animated film "The Mitchells vs. The Machines."

The film follows themes of parents sending kids off into the real world and the emotional experience that provides but also deals with the robot apocalypse. This not-so-perfect family's last road trip is now a trip to save the human race! From the animation to the comedy, you will love the film just as much as Bradley!

Read more about Bradley's review on "The Mitchells vs. The Machines" and why he loved it so much!

You made it to the bottom of the newsletter! This is Shelby Tolly giving y'all the best Opinion and A&E newsletter out there (in my mom's opinion)! I may sound like PBS here, but we are thankful for readers like you and the time you take into reading our articles and newsletters! You are part of our growth as journalists, and we are eternally thankful!

It is about that time where we start our finals. Its been a long semester — heck, a long year! But look at you! You are doing it! You are so strong and amazing for pulling through; I am proud of you! So proud in fact, I got you a little gift! Just a little something, just a little dad joke — nothing special (no refunds, sorry!).
