Important and late breaking news from the FCC to provide financial support for broadband access!
The Federal Communications Commission has launched a temporary program to help families and households struggling to afford Internet service during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Emergency Broadband Benefit provides a discount of up to $50 per month toward broadband service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers.
Eligible households can enroll through a participating broadband provider or directly with the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) using an online or mail in application.

You can learn more about the benefit, including eligibility and enrollment information, by visiting  www.fcc.gov/broadbandbenefit, or by calling 833-511-0311
The Merry Month of May -  the focus is on Older Americans!
This month of May is Older Americans Month. Ageism is a serious issue, and is close to our hearts here at HAMV.  There are events going on throughout the month in support of Older Americans.

Changing the Narrative, a Colorado based awareness campaign about ageism, has some great virtual events you can attend.
Learn how to become an age-friendly employer on May 18.
This short lunchtime presentation will share the benefits of being an employer that welcomes people of all ages, and the steps that you can take to become more age-friendly.

On May 25 or May 27 - Join in on an intergenerational conversation about ageism.

The recently-released Global Report on Ageism found that both younger people and older people experience ageism. And the report pointed to a strategy that helps, one that Changing the Narrative has been using for some time: Intergenerational conversations about ageism.
