2040 is a hybrid feature documentary that looks to the future, but is vitally important NOW!

Award-winning director Damon Gameau (That Sugar Film) embarks on journey to explore what the future could look like by the year 2040 if we simply embraced the best solutions already available to us to improve our planet and shifted them rapidly into the mainstream.

Structured as a visual letter to his 4-year-old daughter, Damon blends traditional documentary with dramatised sequences and high-end visual effects to create a vision board of how these solutions could regenerate the world for future generations.

SHOWCASE ESPERANCE
Design Competition

Each year Esperance has the opportunity to showcase our local talent and our beautiful region to the thousands of people visiting Yagan Square in the Perth CBD.

The Shire of Esperance is holding a competition to find our favourite local design.

We are looking for design entries from individuals, schools, community groups and amateur & professional artists within the Esperance region.

The designs can be

  • digitally created or
  • physically created in ANY medium then digitized (photographed).

There is a prize of $500 worth of gift vouchers from local businesses to the winner and $50 gift vouchers for the four other category winners.

Councilors will judge the local designs with the winning design to be submitted for entry in the state-wide #shoWcAse in Pixels competition.

#shoWcAse in Pixels is WA’s biggest community arts project, featuring designs from Councils all over the state. The designs are displayed on the digital screen in Yagan Square, during the annual Local Government Convention each year.

All the information you need is attached below. All entries need to be submitted via email to the Shire of Esperance by Wednesday 30th June 2021, so get out your pencil-cases and paint-boxes, fire up the computer or clean the lens of your camera and get creative!

TERMS & CONDTIONS

DAVID SCHEEL in DON’T SHOOT ME, I’M ONLY THE PIANO PLAYER is a runaway success in London’s West End, at successive Edinburgh Festivals, at the Melbourne Comedy Festival and right across the USA, this is a hilarious send-up of classical music, which has established Australian pianist, David Scheel, as the successor to the legendary Victor Borge.

Classical music is turned on its head

Beautiful music, and musical fun performed in so many accents/voices that David has also been compared to the late Robin Williams, and Peter Ustinov.

Hear a familiar tune played in the styles of the old masters + an i-Pod; two famous pieces played simultaneously, one with the right hand, one with the left, plus his “translation” of the lyrics of Waltzing Matilda, already a comedy classic.
