STRATEGY SERIES WEBINAR:
Does your community know you exist? Grow audience and revenue via increased awareness
In our 20-year history, we’ve seen a lot of growth in public media. But there’s still room to increase public media's reach into new and non-traditional public media consumers. That’s why we’re hosting a webinar on how to take steps to grow overall awareness of your station in your community.
WMUK's Development Director Kim Willis will recount WMUK's digital campaign, and Colorado Public Radio's SVP Audience & Platforms Jodi Gersh will discuss the 2020 cross-media campaign deployed by Colorado Public Radio.
The webinar will cover how these campaigns got started, the marketing strategy, budgets and results. And for stations that think a marketing campaign is too expensive to execute, WMUK in Kalamazoo ran an all-digital marketing campaign, targeting listeners and potential listeners in the community to build awareness for their new station.

Recessions and underwriting, lessons learned
As we emerge from a COVID 19-induced economic slowdown, sponsorship can spring back quickly after a recession, with certain categories of advertisers leading the way. We’re hearing early reports that underwriting in the arts and travel are coming back as venues begin to open their doors. It's important to stay in front of sponsors, tell your story, and if you happen to have lost members of your sales team in the past year, hire quickly. This was the lesson from the last recession -- overall, investments in underwriting and membership staff correlated with accelerated growth in the decade following the Great Recession.
If you suspect that your station is underperforming in underwriting, we can analyze how your station performs versus its peers and give you insights on what you can do to grow revenue. For more information, reach out to Steve Holmes.
