Hello seedling people and happy gardening season. Yay!

This is a quick note to update you all on the plants you've ordered or the plants you are thinking about ordering.

WHEN CAN I PICK UP MY STUFF?

The past couple of weeks, the greenhouse has reminded me of a big kitchen getting ready forThanksgiving dinner. I'm doing the happy seedling dance inside, outside, on table and palettes, working to get all of the seedlings ready to "be served" at just the right time.

The cold HARDY plants, like kales, cabbages, baby bok choi, swiss chard, spinach, lettuce, etc are ready to get in your gardens. So if you've made an order that has both frost hardy and frost tender plants, and you live close enough to the farm to make it worth two trips, get in touch and we'll set up a time for you to pick up your cool weather stuff. Email or text are best, thank you.

Frost-tender friends, like tomatoes, peppers, squash, cukes, and most of the flowers are sizing up inside the greenhouse, waiting out the cold nights and getting ready to make their debut when it is warm enough to be planted. I always aim to have these plants at the ideal size when they go into the ground--that is not too big--meaning not root bound in a container that is too small, the way that you'll find many plants available at the large shopping stores. A plant whose roots never touch the bounds of the container knows no limits and will produce and perform more bountifully than one that has been waiting around too long to get into the ground.

I estimate about two weeks for these buddies, but I'll notify everyone as soon as they are ready to go.

I HAVEN'T ORDERED YET. SHOULD I ORDER OR JUST BUY RIGHT FROM THE COOP OR THE NORTH PLAIN FARM STORE?

Right now, *selected varieties* of the cool weather crops are available at both the Berkshire Coop and the North Plain Farm Store. The selection will rotate seasonally and will be available through the summer and into the fall.

Because of space limitations at these venues, the *FULL selection* of what I'm growing is only available via our ordering system.  So for example if you are REALLY into having a full rainbow of colors, shapes, sizes, and ripening times of heirloom tomatoes in your garden this year, then ordering is the better bet.

Some folks are buying the cool weather plants at one of these venues and then ordering the rest to make sure they get the specific varieties they're envisioning for tomatoes and flowers.

Thanks to each of you wonderful customers for taking this growing journey with me season after season. It fills my heart.

--Laura
