Other News & Updates

City Sites Open Vaccinations to Angelenos 16 and Up

Mayor Garcetti announced that the City has opened up vaccinations to Angelenos age 16 and older. LA County residents can now start making appointments for this week on the City's online portal. This eligibility expansion comes as the City grows its vaccination infrastructure and assumes operations at the Cal State LA site.

In addition to Cal State LA, the City will deliver Pfizer and Moderna doses across its permanent locations and mobile clinics through the MOVE program. All sites will be open from Tuesday through Saturday between 8am and 4pm. First dose appointments are available online at Coronavirus.LACity.org/VaxAppointment.

Second dose patients should have received notifications with their appointment details recently by text/or email. Patients should note that the date stamped on the CDC vaccination cards received after their first dose is not an appointment confirmation. Instead, everyone should use the appointment details provided by Carbon Health.

LA County Residents Can Now Access FEMA Funeral Expense Relief

LA County residents are able apply for financial help for funeral expenses through the FEMA COVID-19 Funeral Assistance Program. Individuals can apply for FEMA's COVID-19 Funeral Assistance by calling (844) 684-6333 or (800) 462-7585 (TTY) for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. There is no deadline to apply.

Individuals can call Monday through Friday, from 6 AM to 6 PM PST. Translators will be available to assist callers who do not speak English. To be eligible for funeral assistance, LA County residents must meet the following conditions established by FEMA:

  • The death must have occurred in the United States, including the US territories and the District of Columbia
  • The death certificate must indicate the death was attributed to COVID-19
  • The applicant must be a US citizen, non-citizen national, or a qualified non-citizen who incurred funeral expenses after January 20, 2020.

There are no residential or legal status requirements regarding the deceased person. To get more information about this program, please visit FEMA.gov.
