PTO--2nd Thursday of Each Month @ 6:00

May 31st - Memorial Day-No School
Asynchronous Learning Days--May 14th to June 3rd
Current Last of of School - June 11th

Asynchronous Learning Days

Families will receive information from their child's classroom teacher today concerning asynchronous learning day activities.  You may complete and submit the activities anytime prior to June 4th.  It is important to note that attendance will be marked in Infinite Campus between June 4th and 10th.  Because the system assumes that children are absent until they are marked present, your child's record will show three absences.  Please do not worry about this.  The data will be corrected before report cards are printed at the conclusion of the year.

Do not hesitate to contact Rick Dustin-Eichler or your child's teacher with any questions.

Elementary School Day Family Guidance

Timeline

  • Work will be completed between May 14th and June 4th.

  • Work will be sent home to families on May 14th, 21st, and/or 28th.  If the grade level team decides to send all of the assignments home on May 14th, they will communicate with the families on the other dates to check-in regarding completion.

  • Work may be returned at any point.

  • Attendance for the three asynchronous will be calculated into the year’s attendance.

Assignments

  • Grade levels will work in teams to create assignments.

  • Assignments

    • K-2: reading and math assignment for each asynchronous day, or the equivalent

    • 3-5: reading, math, science or social studies, and writing assignment for each asynchronous day, or the equivalent

  • Teachers will communicate with families regarding the evidence of completion that must be returned to school.

  • Families are encouraged to spend no more than 2 hours per week (6 hours total) on the completion of these assignments.  When a family reaches this 2 hour threshold, the school will consider the assignment completed.  Please indicate this by sending the completed assignment back to the teacher with a note or email a teacher on your child’s team.

  • The school will send home all of the materials that are needed to complete each assignment.  If you need something that is not provided, please contact someone on your child’s team.

Office Hours

  • Each grade level team will communicate their office hours.  If you have questions, you may ask anyone on your child’s team.

  • Staff will be immediately available via email during office hours.

  • Office hours will occur during evenings and/or weekends with the goal of providing families with times that meet most schedules.

Family Survey

Thank you for taking the time to complete the Panorama Family Survey.  We had 51 responses.  Because this survey was written for non-COVID times, some of the items are not valid in this current environment (i.e. how often to you see your child's teacher in person?), but we feel like there is a lot to learn from the data.  For example, we had high favorability scores on school safety, school climate and school fit.  However, within the school safety, nearly 25% of respondents reported that online bullying was somewhat, quite, and extremely likely.  This information is very concerning for us and we will work to build in more education around online bullying in the future.

One of the more surprising pieces of data focused around family perceptions of how well their child is able to persevere through setbacks to achieve important long-term goals.  On this series of questions, 37% of families responded favorably.  The school leadership team will use this information to reflect on how we are providing students with opportunities to develop grit and perseverance.

We appreciate your time.  In upcoming years we plan to administer this survey this survey triennially to help us continuously reflect on how we can improve our practices.
