Dia Internacional de l'assaig clinic: James Lind
 
  
El 20 de maig es va celebrar el dia internacional de l'assaig clínic. Fa 274 anys el metge naval James Lind iniciava el que ha estat el primer assaig clínic de la història per combatre l'escorbut dels mariners.  A sota teniu un fil de Twitter que ho explica i més info sobre aquest tema.
 

Defensa i dipòsit de Tesis doctorals GRBIO

La propera setmana, en Jordi Cortés defensarà la seva tesi doctoral titulada "Constant effect in randomized clinical trials with quantitative outcome. A bibliographic review". Per la seva banda, la Yovi Alarcón ha dipositat la seva tesi titulada "Data Science in HIV. Statistical approaches for therapeutic HIV vaccine data". Moltes felicitats a tots dos!!!

V Concurs de Microrelats

El proper 26 de maig es farà el lliurament de premis del V Concurs de Microrelats de la Facultat de Biologia (UB) conjuntament amb la lectura dels microrelats guanyadors. També hi haurà la conferència “L’Alfabet de l’Estadística” a càrrec de la Lupe Gómez i la Conxita Arenas. Assisteix!

Diccionari Mates i Estadística
L’Institut d’Estudis Catalans (IEC) acaba de fer pública, en línia, la segona edició del Diccionari de matemàti-ques i estadística (DME), obra elaborada i editada conjuntament l’any 2002 per la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya i per l’editorial Enciclopèdia Catalana, SA.

Aquest diccionari conté unes 3.800 entrades (amb equivalents en espanyol, francès i anglès), unes 200 figures i 19 taules.

New features in
R 4.1.0
Rejoice! A new R release (v 4.1.0) is due on 18th May 2021. Typically most major R releases don’t contain that many new features, but this release does contain some interesting and important changes.
This post summarises some of the notable changes introduced. More detail on the changes can be found at the R changelog. An important change is that the 4.1.x series will be the last to support 32-bit Windows and a new format for the pipe operator.
