This is the latest of our weekly newsletters for staff about the work underway to ensure the continuity of Teaching, Learning and Assessment for our students during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Today we are covering:

Graduation Benchmark for Finalists 20/21

Last year, guidance was provided on how the graduation benchmark would be applied to intermediate year students in 2019/20 who were due to graduate this year. This has now been updated and is available in the Marks Management Manual. Principles and the approach to the calculation of the graduation benchmark remain the same, while further clarification has been provided on how this applies to students who may have taken temporary withdrawal during 2019/20, deferred exams to 20/21 or who may be resitting without residence, as well as to students who were on study abroad or a year in industry in 2019/20.

Marks and Exam Board Briefing session

A reminder that there will be a Marks and Exam Board Briefing session for Undergraduate Taught provision on 25 May 2021, 11am-12.30pm. The session will be hosted by colleagues from Education Policy and Quality (EPQ) and Student Administrative Services (SAS) and aims to support departmental awareness and understanding of operational process and policy for Marks Management and Exam Board Procedures. This session will focus on the process and policies for undergraduate provision.

If you wish to attend and have not already put your name down, please let the organisers know via Quality@warwick.ac.uk

Pre-sessional English at Warwick

Applications for Warwick’s Pre-sessional English Programmes are now open for this Summer.

Pre-Sessional English programmes have been running at the University for over 20 years, helping international students to meet the English language requirements for their main degree programmes. Our portfolio of Warwick Pre-Sessional Programmes are academic English language and literacy skills courses which prepare undergraduate and postgraduate students linguistically and culturally for their future degree studies. Our courses are designed for students whose first language is not English and who have an offer to study for a degree at the University of Warwick, typically containing specific English language requirements. The programmes focus on the specific academic literacies that students will need so that they can effectively follow and fully engage with their main degree discipline. We currently offer several Pre-Sessional English language courses and students should choose the course most appropriate to their language needs (and main degree course).
