Last Call for Membership Fees
Beyond this weekend, there will be a strict no pay, no play policy. To remain available for selection, you can either pay in full or set up instalments to pay your 2021 membership. Details can be found here for men's cricket and here for women's cricket.

A proud moment in the club's history as we reached one hundred female members! So many people have put in incredible efforts to make this a success from organisers, coaches and (of course) the players themselves. To mark this milestone, the Girls recorded two excellent victories against Dulwich and Bromley!

Senior Roundup
The Men's Surrey 5th XI were indebted to Zaeem Jafri and his all round performance (48 & 5-11) in securing a 46 run win vs Merton. Batting first, the M(S)5s enjoyed a 49 run opening partnership and a 66 run third wicket partnership to set up a challenging score of 162-6. In reply, Merton started steadily before a Jafri reduced them from 30-1 to 34-6 in an attacking spell of seam bowling. A rearguard partnership caused a few jitters before Haider and Forman (snr) wrapped up the innings. The M6s had a more comfortable win against Old Roan as an excellent team bowling effort dismissed their opponents for just 83, which was easily knocked off. The Sunday 1s beat Mpingwe comfortably by 8 wickets with Taz Taper (8-1-16-4) running through the middle order. Set 122 to win, Jay Patel (55) and Ravi Paul (45) broke the back of the chase and fell shortly before the target was achieved.

The Sunday 2s had a closer game against Orpington Ocelots who posted 202-7 after a strong lower middle order partnership. Debutants, Farhan Tariq (50) and Nick Hall (54) put on 107 for the second wicket partnership before Pickles (40) got us close and we snuck home with an over to spare.
Unfortunately results elsewhere went against us with Sanderstead doing a double against our M1s and M2s whilst Beddington defeated our M3s and M4s. Catford & Cyphers proved too strong for our Men's Kent 5th XI and Croydon beat our Friendly XI.
Still, we have put out eight men's sides every weekend for the past four weekends and plan to continue to do so!

Junior Roundup
Girls
The U9-11s lost one against Richmond in spite of "smashing it out of the park" in their first innings, but beat Dulwich. Meanwhile, the U11-13s, who have had a tough time in terms of squad numbers and results over the previous two years, closed out a nail-biter against Bromley Buzzards. It was fitting that the Marcie Hill, now in her 6th or possibly 7th year at the club, was the player to step up with the big performance, taking 3 wickets and retiring not out.
Boys
The U14s won a late evening, last over and last wicket thriller against Purley - special mentions go to Tom O'Mahoney for his batting and 3 wicket over and to James Ahmad for being top scorer.
Earlier in the week, the U14s lost by 11 runs to Spencer. Kit Harland (2-12), Max Lachman (23) and Sam Allott (20) performing well. The U13s took that up a notch by also losing to Spencer, but by only 2 runs. Daniel Harrison (4-18), Herb Balaam (3-26) and Cillian Roots (30 from 41 balls) the stand out performers. And the U12s were left ruing their decision to propose that batters retire on 20 as it meant their two set batsmen - Alfred Davidson (16) and Matthew Harrison (17) walked off early in the innings against Wimbledon, returning in the last 2.2 overs only for two LBW decisions to mean SMCC finished again 2 runs short.
The U9s also lost to their counterparts from Spencer, but the result does not diminish a fabulous 22 (once out; net 17 runs) from Ciaran Cavanagh, nor the excellent haul of 3 wickets for 9 runs by Sonny Kelly Pharoe. The U10s beat Spencer by 27 runs, even though they were fielding a player short, Jonathan Koder taking a five-fer...
Otto Balaam was back in the wickets as his eft-arm swing was far too good for the Alleyn U11s middle order. 3 more wickets for 0 runs means Otto now has an almost incomprehensible 16 wickets for 9 runs from 11 overs. Skyler Cook also effected 3 run-outs and a personal best 30 retired not out Shay Ivory also impressed with the bat, making 22 from just 19 deliveries and giving away just a single run from his two overs.
Finally, the U8s tied against Trinity Mid-Whits in a well earned draw.

SMCC Fantasy Cricket
Luke MacWilliam has opened up a sizeable early lead in the Fantasy SMCC Cricket League with 1457 points with the next set of competitors some 200 points away. However, there's still a long season ahead...
Week 4 MVP was Zaeem Jafri with his stunning all round contribution of 48 and 8-1-11-5. A player only selected by three sides but i can imagine that will soon change!
