Welcome
Welcome to 'The Link' our bi-monthly engagement-report.

As GP practices you came together to create PCS to do the things that you can't do alone. It's your organisation. We are making lots of changes to make sure that you are in the driving seat when it comes to decision making.

This newsletter is designed to provide an overview of the feedback we have received, the action we've taken and the different ways you can influence the work of the organisation.

What's new?

Additional support for practices: optimising Hub capacity.

Following engagement with practices we have made changes to our extended access service to help relieve current pressures on practices. This includes securing agreement with the CCG that they will commission extra evening GP appointments as well as making changes to the times when appointments are made available.

Clinical pharmacy service

We have responded to PCN and practice requests for more local direction and ownership of the pharmacy workforce, embedding them into closer MDTs and ultimately being able to employ directly. The formal TUPE consultation process has now started.

Developing digital tools for demand management
Practices have asked us for support in finding digital tools that can help them manage demand. We’re exploring the idea of a joint-venture with a technology company and have asked our shareholders if they want to move forward with the partnership. Q&A sessions have been set up for those who want to ask us about the project and we will be in contract soon with an update on the vote.

Support for practices not delivering COVID Vaccination clinics for cohorts 10-12
We asked those PCNs who are not continuing with vaccination clinics for cohorts 10-12 how we could best target their patients through our COVID vaccination clinics. In line with their suggestions we are now moving forward with pop-up clinics, walk-in sessions at Darnall, as well as targeted marketing activity.

Have your say
Additional support for practices: optimising Hub capacity.

Thank you to everyone that responded to the recent survey we about maximising capacity to the extended access service. Our aim is to make changes to ensure the service is helping practices manage current demand as best as possible.

Feedback was consistent in some areas, but there were opposing views on the staff mix, so we encourage more of you to respond, so we can try and meet your needs.

Let us know the areas you'd like to get involved in.

As GP practices you came together to create PCS to do the things that you can't do alone. It's your organisation.

Our experience has shown that to deliver things the way you need them delivered we need to involve clinicians, managers and practice teams from the outset when services are being created.

Rather than wait until we have any specific project in the first stages of development, we would like to be pro-active and build up a register of those with an interest in future project development. So, if you have a specific area you are interested in then let us know so that we can contact you if input is needed in that area.

PCS 'drop-in' sessions

The PCS team is always keen to hear about anything you would like to raise with us in the way of feedback or any ideas you may have on how we might shape things going forwards.

Andy Hilton and Nicki Doherty keep a lunch time “drop in” slot available in their diary on Wednesday (Andy) and Friday (Nicki).  If you would like to catch-up with them in one of those, please simply click the button below, and we will get back to you to arrange that.

Please note that these 'drop-in' sessions are in addition to the 1:1 meetings we have been arranging with practices.
