"GPs urged to refuse to hand over patient details to NHS Digital"

Concerns are being raised by privacy campaigners and doctors over NHS Digital's plans to put the medical histories of more than 55 million patients into a database available to academic and commercial third parties for research and planning purposes.  
Doctors are concerned that the transfer of patients' details will erode the trust of their patients and want to raise awareness and buy more time for their patients to be able to make an informed choice.

Patients in England have until 23 June to opt out.
Patients who want to opt out of the centralisation of their health records have to fill in a form, available on the NHS Digital website, and return it to their GP by 23 June.

Twin crisis of access and affordability calls for a radical rethink of NHS dentistry

New data indicates the dental crisis shows no signs of slowing, with four in five people (80%) struggling to access timely care during the last COVID-19 lockdown. Access to NHS dental care continues to be a problem for people across England, with Healthwatch recording a 22% rise in calls and complaints about dentistry between January and March 2021. (more...)

Closer collaboration between BHRUT and the Barts Health group

The pandemic brought NHS organisations and partners across north east London more closely together than ever before in responding to Covid, for the benefit of our patients and residents. In particular, BHRUT worked closely with the Barts Health group to co-ordinate care for critically-ill Covid patients and those with urgent and emergency needs, including transfers between hospitals. When it comes to cancer, early detection is key. If you are worried about your symptoms don’t ignore them. Contact your GP. GPs in are offering phone or video appointments and have put new safety measures in place if you need to visit your practice.

The NHS is sending texts to some people to invite them to book a COVID-19 vaccine appointment. These may come from a local NHS service, or from ‘NHSvaccine’. Remember the NHS will never ask for payment details. Find out more about how we may contact you. http://nhs.uk/covid-vaccine-advice

Face – Has their Face fallen on one side?
Arms – can they raise both arms and keep them there?
Speech – is it slurred?
Time – it’s time to call 999
