This year's festivities begin Thursday, June 17 with our highly-anticipated Celebration of Legends Benefit Concert presented by Amazon and Nissan LIVE from the Ryman Auditorium, honoring Quincy Jones, Fisk Jubilee Singers, Smokey Robinson, Chaka Khan, and Lionel Richie, and featuring performances by Anthony Hamilton, Raheem DeVaughn, Avery*Sunshine, and many more! On Friday, June 18, tune in for NMAAM's State of Black Music Summit presented by Amazon, streaming LIVE on YouTube at 9:30AM CDT/10:30AM EDT. We're excited to welcome our Fifth + Broadway neighbors, Slim & Husky's, and Sony as co-sponsors for this inaugural event!
The day-long summit will feature dynamic discourse and panels exploring the intersection of Black music and culture with industry leaders, some of today's top recording artists, and media personalities gracing NMAAM's Roots Theater stage as panelists.
This event will also feature the premiere of the official State of Black Music podcast, and we'll share the museum’s 4th State of Black Music report.

We'll kick off Juneteenth (Saturday, June 19) with our official Museum Dedication presented by Amazon and Nissan, and sponsored by Chase, HCA, and AARP. The ceremony will stream on YouTube starting at 9:30AM CDT/10:30AM EDT. You won't want to miss this milestone event in NMAAM's history as we formally commemorate the grand opening of the first-ever museum dedicated to telling the complete history of African American music!
