CULTURE is the CURE: Vallejo Project celebrates Vallejo's rich diversity through art, music food and performances.

What is Vallejo Project?

Vallejo Project builds youth leaders through community service. Vallejo Project youth leaders serve seniors citizens and youth grades K-12

We are a community service center designed to improve student outcomes by connecting youth to multi-generational enrichment and development opportunities in the trades, art, wellness and culture.

Vision: Empowered youth, realized potential, and engaged service.

Mission Statement: Our mission is to empower youth 12-24 to start pathways toward careers.

Approach: Our approach is to engage citizens, of all ages, to volunteer their time and talents in service of our youth through multi-generational educational activities.  We bring together an ethnically diverse passionate team of educators, artists, and community advocates to offer weekly workshops and live webinars.

Values Servant leadership – Leadership in service of others is at the core of everything we do.

LETTER FROM AN INTERN

I found out about the Vallejo project team through my high school of mare island technology academy. At first it was just an internship that I needed in order to complete my high School graduation requirements. But let me tell you it was more than an internship once I got through the first week it was way more. I learned all kinds of skills that regular school just doesn’t teach you, for example banking, resume writing, zoom etiquette and a lot more. I took a lot from it and I’m glad I came to them. The most important thing I took away from it was not only the knowledge but it was the people. A big part was being able to network with many different people and just talking to every background from people in politics, doctors and teachers. It's just amazing because I am pursuing a career of becoming a doctor but I was interested in entrepreneurship as a way to fund my schooling. So I spoke to both a doctor who I gained information from about if I would have time to work another job and study and I spoke to another mentor who spoke about the different ways of making income which blew me away. But it wouldn’t be possible to meet all these people without Ms. McDonald brought all these workshops together for us for free. I would love to work with the Vallejo project on a much bigger scale and hopefully be able to impact another child’s life the same way or even better than the way the people at Vallejo project have helped. Thank you for the opportunity.
Our community workshops will serve as a "Business Boot Camp" in which 6 interns, community members and Vallejo Project team members will participate in community development, financial literacy, professionalism and wellness workshops. We will be learning from each other and community specialists in their fields
