As Hungary reopens after a challenging third wave of COVID, the Word of Life campus and ministries have again come alive. Read about how God is working as we approach summer camp season and rejoice with us in God’s goodness!

Bible Institute

What an encouraging month May was! God opened doors for us to return mostly to normal just in time for us to the end the Bible Institute year on a high note.

In these last few weeks we have been able to resume classroom instruction, we even had guest teachers come from the United States to teach in person. The students really enjoyed that as they had been stuck studying online since November.

On May 14-16 we had our annual Missions Conference, and while we did not have outside guests attending, it was an amazing encouragement to have our staff and students together again after so long apart. God used this Conference and our guest speaker Kris Stout to challenge these young people to consider God’s call in their life to share the gospel around the world. 35 of our students dedicated their life to ministry and missions! For two of our students we have prayed by laying our hands on them, sending them out to the mission field to a country where Christians are persecuted.

Reflecting on a difficult year, it was great to see how God used His Word to teach, inspire, and prepare these young people for life and ministry!

Here is how Khaled, one of our students from Greece, put it:
“It's amazing how your life can be changed in 1 year, how I'm not the same person I was before. There are ups and downs, but now I have seen things that I am capable of, but wasn't doing before. I feel like evangelism is the fuel to the church to grow, and I feel I can go back and help my church do more evangelism.”

On May 29th we had our Bible Institute Graduation ceremony. It was great to rejoice together, celebrating what God has done this past year.

God is faithful, and this can best be seen as He takes us through challenges. Here’s a music video with an encouraging message that some of our staff and students put together back in the times when we couldn’t meet all in one place.

Please pray for our students as they serve God this summer in ministries around the world!

Local Church Ministries

In spite COVID related restrictions easing up on the country, many local churches are still not meeting in person. For this reason, most of our ministry opportunities in May were online. The video content created with the help of some of our staff and students have reached into hundreds of local churches. These contents provide great help for church pastors in creating quality online content week by-week.

We are thankful that we had one in-person ministry in May. Along with one of our Bible Institute guest teacher and two students, we served in a local church, preaching God’s word and the students sharing about their call to the mission field, reminding and encouraging the congregation to fulfill our call to take the Gospel to the lost.

Unfortunately, satellite camps will not be possible this year. Due to international travel restrictions, our American friends will not be able to come and serve with us this summer, therefore all our staff will need to serve on campus all seven weeks of camp.

Camp

Our team is working hard preparing for the summer camps. We can almost feel it that we are getting closer to the summer season by the minute. Camp registrations are coming in continuously and we have crossed the 800th registration! We also have a good number of volunteers for now and enough first-aid providers for every week! Thank you for praying that camp will be filled with campers every week, and many will come to our Lord Jesus Christ.

Thanks for Faithful Servants

It was a blessing to recognize the faithful service of two of our longtime staff members. Dr. Dobos-Barbarics Ildikó has served with us from the beginning of Word of Life Hungary more than 30 years ago, when she played a key role in writing our original legal papers and founding documents. She has served since in anything asked of her, including legal issues, residency permits for international students and much more. Kádár László began officially serving with us more than twenty-five years ago in our summer camps and local church ministries, and is now a main Bible teacher in our Bible Intitute. THANK YOU BOTH for your faithfulness and the ways God has used you over the years!

Building for the Future

In many ways we are reaching capacity on our property. We need space for more people! Accordingly, we are asking God to provide $700,000 to build and furnish a new dormitory near Bubar Auditorium. This will be an investment in lives by providing a place over the next ten years for: 80 couples to come to the Bible Institute together or serve as interns; 140 more Bible Institute students; 2100 more campers to attend summer camps; additional space for school groups and those attending conferences and retreats.
