ANNOUNCEMENTS

Chromebook Return
(All 8th grade & students not returning to JAMS)

All 8th grade Chromebooks, chargers and hotspots (if you have one) are being turned in through science classes on June 8 and 9. Students can keep the bag because they will need it for their Chromebook next year. Current 8th graders will receive Chromebooks at Samohi in the fall.

If your child has remained on distance learning you must still return the Chromebook. You can drop it off in the attendance office the week of June 7th from 8 am to 3 pm.

Please see the letter from SAMO regarding summer access to technology.

Library Materials

Library Events and News:All library books and textbooks are due to the library Friday, May 28th. If a student lost a library or textbook, new replacement copies of the book will be accepted.

If you have textbooks from last year, please return to the library to avoid replacement costs.

Students and parents can e-mail Ms. Jarvis at ajarvis@smmk12.org for more information.

 Music Opportunity

I am a rising high school junior at Samohi and this summer I am starting a non-profit music program for kids in grades 4-8. I was a student at JAMS a while ago, and I participated in the music program by playing the cello. Almost five years later, I am still playing the cello and I plan to throughout the rest of my school career. When I was a student at JAMS, I really enjoyed the music program there. However, the cello wasn’t a very popular instrument and lessons were expensive, so it wasn’t always easy sticking to the cello. So, this summer I am starting a cello group where participants will meet once a week and will learn basic cello skills, fun pieces, and will be able to work together in a group while learning. In short, the meetings will essentially be a group cello lesson where the students can play together and learn the cello. I am still determining a meeting place but I am hoping to have them at a community center once a week where I can rent it out. Because of this, there will possibly be a small weekly fee just so I can reserve the place for each week but something can definitely be worked out if a family has financial restrictions. Please see the flyer below that contains the information and an email for contact. Thank you so much and I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,
Charlie Snyder, Santa Monica High School
