Update: 2021 LSWP Triennial Assessment Waiver

On June 11, 2021, USDA issued COVID–19: Child Nutrition Response #98, Nationwide Waiver of Local School Wellness Policy Triennial Assessment in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs. This waiver allows local educational agencies (LEA) participating in the National School Lunch Program or School Breakfast Program to submit a request to the California Department of Education (CDE) Nutrition Services Division (NSD) extending the deadline to complete their first LSWP triennial assessment from June 30, 2021, to June 30, 2022.

LEAs requesting the deadline extension would then be required to complete their second triennial assessment by June 30, 2025. LEAs wishing to accept this new deadline must submit a waiver application by June 30, 2021. The LSWP triennial assessment extension waiver application is at https://surveys2.cde.ca.gov/go/lswptriennialwaiver.asp.

Visit the California Department of Education (CDE) website for a list of summer meal service sites. To access the location service sites, you may also use the CA Meals for Kids app on your mobile device. Download instructions can be found here (Apple, Google and Microsoft).

U.S. Soccer Foundation Resources

The U.S. Soccer Foundation is partnering with school districts to boost Physical Education (P.E.).   Beginning in Fall 2021, the Foundation is launching a brand new P.E. soccer curriculum that combines the sport your students love with Health and SEL education.  Partnering districts will be provided with Professional Development for P.E. Teachers and equipment packages.

This new program follows the Foundation’s recent release of activities for Physical Education (P.E.).  Activities are designed for virtual and socially distant learning and are available for download on the Foundation's website. To learn more, contact Michael Vaughan-Cherubin at mcherubin@ussoccerfoundation.org.
