Scrabo Golf Club – Score Entry System 01/06/21

With the opening of the clubhouse and locker rooms we can now get back to entering our scores via the computer in the locker rooms, hopefully this will make it easier for some of our members.

PLEASE NOTE THAT GOLF IRELAND ARE PUSHING FOR ALL CARDS TAKEN OUT IN COMPETITION TO BE RETURNED EVEN IF YOU DO NOT FINISH 18 HOLES OF GOLF, THE NEW WHS REQUIRES AS MANY SCORES AS POSSIBLE RETURNED IN COMPETITION FOR THE SYSTEM TO WORK AS ACCURATELY AS POSSIBLE

Persistent failure to return score cards taken out in competition may result in the suspension of your handicap, which will mean not being able to enter club competitions as well as not being able to play in inter-club team matches.

Competition Scores

  • Scores must be returned on the same day you sign in for the competition i.e. If you take a card out in the competition on Saturday your score must be entered on Saturday

  • Scores are to be entered via the computer, but you must also return your score card in the relevant boxes beside the computer. Those who wish may still enter their scores on-line but their score card must be returned using the box in the locker room

  • Should a player enter a score and fail to return their score card they will be disqualified, as we will have nothing to check their scores against.

  • When scores are returned using the computer your scores will upload to GI site at midnight that same night, scores returned via on-line entry will not be uploaded to GI site until we do the results as these scores have to be downloaded from the cloud system on to our system

  • Players must remember that they are responsible for their own scores and all scores should be checked before being submitted via the computer. So please double check your computer entry before submitting.

  • Due to the new Golf Ireland System, should a player make a mistake on their score entry that is their responsibility, we will not be going on to the Golf Ireland site to make changes as we would have to undo all competition scores entered just to change a single score card.

  • For computer entry just follow the instructions on the screen and your player ID is the last 4 digits on your membership card ,If you are unsure how to submit scores on the computer, please ask for assistance in the pro shop or from any member of the Match & Handicap committee – handicap@scrabogc.co.uk

General Play Scores

For those members who do not play in competitions and want to keep their Handicap Index up to date or members who just wish to keep their HI as accurate as possible you are able to submit what is called a General Play score

  • To submit a General Play score you must first register with the Pro shop  prior to commencement of your round. You cannot go out and after you have a round of golf decide to enter a General Play score, it will not be accepted as there is a delay between registering and being able to submit a score.

  • Once you complete your round you can enter your score via the computer. Just use the option General Play score and enter your score as normal.

  • Should you submit a general play score you are required by Golf Ireland to submit your card to M & H for them to keep a record, all cards submitted must be dated and signed by a marker for verification.

  • You may not play on your own and submit a general play score.

  • Please note that members are responsible for submitting their own General Play scores, this is nothing to do with Match & Handicap.

Notable Scores

  • For those members who play in various groups/societies if you have not registered for a general Play score and your return a score card with 36 pts or above you are expected to return this to M & H for entry onto Golf Ireland system

  • Just leave your card in the Pro Shop or photograph it and email to – handicap@scrabogc.co.uk

Finally, we have been asked to remind members of the following due to complaints about slow play on the course in recent weeks.

Your place on the course is behind the players in front not in front of the players behind. Please be aware of your pace of play.
