This weekend, students are leading the Stand for Speech Rally to advocate for New Voices.
Counting down to the student-led Stand for Speech Rally
Tomorrow (Sunday, June 13) student advocates will gather at Foley Square in New York City to rally support for passing the statewide Student Journalist Free Speech Act.
SPLC, Teens for Press Freedom and New Voices New York partnered for this event, but students are the ones leading the rally and the movement in New York.
If you're in the area, stop by to show your support for New Voices, hear from speakers, make posters, write letters and enjoy live music. If not, follow along on SPLC's Twitter and Instagram, where we'll be posting updates throughout the day.
Today is day 3 of SPLC's End of School Year Fundraiser. Our goal is to raise $7,500, which will be matched by the SPLC Board. We are 26% of the way to our goal with 8 days to go.
Please donate or create a Facebook Fundraiser today to support SPLC's continued work defending student press freedom, fighting censorship and providing support to student journalists and advisers.
These funds help us provide our services for free, including assisting students one-on-one through our legal hotline and advocating for New Voices legislation to protect student press freedom at the state level.
If so, a great way to support SPLC is by creating a Facebook Fundraiser on our behalf. It's easy: just log in to Facebook, create a new fundraiser and make sure to choose SPLC as the beneficiary. Then, encourage your friends and family to give by sharing your personal connection to our organization and why you think folks should donate.
With your help we can reach new donors and meet our goal!
