The EDOK young adult small group will start back with weekly meetings Wednesdays from June 16 - August 4 at 7:30 pm.  This summer we will be using the lectures and thoughts of theologians Andy Root and Tripp Fuller to guide conversations about how we make church and the Gospel resonant in our rapidly secularizing world. Each Sunday Will Chaney will send out the weekly readings for those who are interested, but all can participate regardless of their ability or interest in doing any readings! Contact Will Chaney for questions at whdc425@gmail.com

Register now for the Youth Day of Mission

We will be hosting two regional "Day of Mission" events in late June in place of MissionWichita this year.

Our Wichita Area Day of Mission will be Friday, June 25, from 8 am-5 pm. We will start our day by volunteering at Breakthrough (Episcopal Social Services). After lunch, we will head to Rock River Rapids for some fun. The cost of the event is $10. Participants will need to pack a lunch, bathing suit, beach towel, and sunscreen. We have room for 15 students ranging from grades 7th through 12th. We hope you will be able to join us for this day of service, fellowship, and fun!

Our Kansas City Area Day of Mission will be Wednesday, June 23, from 8 am-5 pm. We will be going to True Light Family Resource Center, an organization that serves downtown Kansas City with food and clothing pantries, and as a day shelter for women. Service tasks will include: cleaning the facility, sorting clothing donations, putting together church bulletins, and sanitizing surfaces. Youth should bring their own lunches, and we will be eating outdoors at the National WWI Memorial park. Our afternoon activity will be mini-golf at Blackbob Adventures in Olathe, with bowling at Pinstripes in Overland Park as a rain-out option. We have room for 15 students ranging from grades 7th through 12th. We hope you will be able to join us for this day of service, fellowship, and fun!

Have you EVER been to EYE? Take this survey...

As we turn the corner from the pandemic and seek to discern how we might best steward these EYE and EJE into the next chapter, the Episcopal Church is working with Ministry Architects to conduct a thorough project to plan for the future of EYE/EJE, beginning with a robust assessment to

1) Assess the impact and efficacy of EYE/EJE
2) Plan for the future of EYE/EJE

We hope you will give Episcopal youth the gift of 5-10 minutes to share your input with us. Just click your language of choice below:

It is important that we capture the depth and breadth of diversity in this process so that all voices are represented and heard. Please complete this from your own personal perspective, and not as a representative of any church or organization. We are grateful for your time, thoughtfulness, and participation.

Thank you,
The Office of Youth Ministry of The Episcopal Church & Ministry Architects

2021-22 Campus Peer Ministry Applications now open

If you’re a full-time student, have demonstrated ministry leadership experience and seek more of it, and you’re passionate about deepening your own spiritual journey and serving others by sharing the love of Christ with those you meet, Peer Ministry might be right for you.

As a Peer Minister, you work collaboratively with parish leaders as well as our Formation Team to design and lead program opportunities that highlight faith formation, Christian community, discernment, and leadership development in your campus community. At K-State and KU, there is the opportunity to live in-residence at one of our Canterbury Houses (for free!).

Meet the Summer Interns!

Pictured above Anastasia, Dillon, Clarke, and Weston.

Anastasia Cunningham is the Campus Ministry Program Assistant at Kansas State University. She has been the Program Assistant since Fall 2019. Anastasia graduated from Oklahoma State University (OSU) with a BA in Hotel and Restaurant Management. While at OSU, Anastasia fell in love with campus ministry and as a result she works to create a similar welcoming experience for the students at Kansas State. In her free time, she likes reading, cooking, the Green Bay Packers, and all things Disney.

Weston Curnow is a student at the University of Kansas where he is studying English and Philosophy in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Weston serves as a peer minister at St. Anselm’s Canterbury House in Lawrence. Aside from his studies and involvement in the ministry, Weston enjoys collecting and reading books, especially classic literature, collecting vinyl, riding his bike, and involving himself in civic life. Weston was born in Overland Park and graduated from Olathe West High School in 2020 where he sang in the choir, participated in theatre, and served as the Student Body President. Before moving to Lawrence Weston attended church at St. Thomas the Apostle in Overland Park. Weston is looking forward to working for the diocese this summer.

Dillon Green is originally from Florence, Alabama. He graduated from the University of North Alabama in 2015 with majors in French and Spanish. He came to Manhattan, Kansas in 2016 to be the Program Assistant at St. Francis Canterbury at Kansas State University, where, with the help of the students at K-State, the people of the Diocese of Kansas, and Mega Camp, he discovered a call to ordained ministry. This May he graduated from Virginia Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity and will be ordained to the Transitional Diaconate on June 19, 2021. He loves Korean Pop Music, the Academy Awards, foreign languages, classic literature, and RuPaul’s Drag Race. This is his fourth summer as a Summer Youth Ministry Intern.

Clarke Mortensen is the Campus Ministry Program Assistant at the Canterbury House of Lawrence, where she has served since the summer of 2020. She also served as an intern at St. Thomas the Apostle during the summer of 2019, where she first got to know the amazing youth of the diocese and experienced the wonders of Mega Camp. She graduated from Kenyon College in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in English and is currently in the discernment process for the priesthood in her home diocese of Ohio. Clarke is an avid reader, runner, musician, and learner of languages, and she has been known to be a fierce evangelist of her favorite graphic novel Bone.

Longing…

This year’s camp theme is “This is Our Prayer” and daily themes begin with the word “Longing”.  Longing to be invited, Longing together, Longing to be heard, Longing for guidance, Longing for renewal, Longing for change and Longing to celebrate.  The campers and staff will hear different stories from the bible where these prayers were made.  We will try out different ways to express our longings to God.  This week will be a culmination of a lot of longings for so many of us being separated for a long time, 2 years in some cases.

For those at home who cannot be at camp or would like to keep the conversation and faith formation flowing after camp we have some “Camp Meets Home” pages available.  These have the verse/scripture for the day, conversation starters, a simple activity and ideas on how to practice what you have learned. The hope is you can pull this up on your phone at a family meal or other family time to discuss and enjoy.  These pages will be in our Facebook group (address below) and available on our web site here.

Wherever your summer plans take you we hope that you will find rest and joy.  You are doing an awesome job raising your young people and remember, God loves you.
