Hello Lovely Reader

If you're in the UK, I hope you had a lovely, restful bank holiday. Perhaps you were able to get out and about, or just take a breather. I hope you had sunshine!

I actually went out on Saturday afternoon, to a pub. Not out-out, but definitely out! And it was so lovely to be doing normal things with friends (*waves at said friend, who reads this newsletter*). I'm in no rush to go anywhere else just yet, but that's my normal response over the bank holiday weekend and school half-term, rather than any lingering pandemic anxiety - there are just too many holiday-makers out there. Much better to open a bottle of wine and sit in my garden. When they've all gone home, I'm planning to take Artoo back to my favourite local beach, the setting for Small Forgotten Moments.

This is what we will look like...

The build up to the launch is continuing. I've got a blog tour scheduled, and the organiser - the lovely Rachel Gilbey of Rachel's Random Resources - has just sent out the call for bloggers. I've also got a couple of guest posts lined up for mid-September.

You may have seen elsewhere that I've sourced a fantastic giveaway to coincide with the launch. I'm not advertising it just yet because a) it's far too soon and b) I haven't fully decided how I'm going to execute the competition yet.
However, here's a sneak preview of this beautiful blue sea glass necklace - sourced from the actual beach at Seaton where Small Forgotten Moments takes place.

How cool is that!!!

The necklace was designed and created by Megan at SeaShaw Sea Glass Jewellery. Please take a look at her page - all of her designs are absolutely stunning.

News from literary world

  • Matilda Windsor is Coming Home by Anne Goodwin is available now! This link will take you direct to the publisher, but you can also search your favourite online bookshop
  • My publisher, Vine Leaves Press, has started a Goodreads group where you can discuss all the wonderful books they publish and learn more about them
  • While searching for something else, I happened upon this interview with me from last year - I thought you might like to read it
This month, I have mostly been...

Reading...

Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell. I bought two books at the same time, and this is the one my friends recommended I start with.

However, I don't think I'm in the right mood for such an epic tome - I might set it aside and come back to it when I'm feeling clearer-headed.

Buying...

  • a new hard drive, to back up everything in case I need to wipe the computer and start again
  • books, obviously
  • lunches in cafes now we're allowed back inside
  • clothes. I love a good trawl around charity shops and found myself a great pair of Next jeans for only £3!

Have you joined my book group on Facebook yet? My aim is to highlight all the amazing indie publishers and authors I love. Readers and writers are both welcome!

My Launch Team for Small Forgotten Moments is growing, but there's still room for a couple more people. Click here if you want to find out more.
Not a link, but if you are a blogger and would like to swap blog posts, or even just host a guest post from me in relation to Small Forgotten Moments, I'd love to hear from you. I'm looking for either something in late July/early August for the pre-order market, or after 13 September once my official blog tour has ended. If you'd like to help, please hit reply on this email. Thank you for reading. See you next month!
