Reimagine Plainfield Corridor Plan Approved by the Board
 
A reimagined corridor with town centers that serve as hubs for retail businesses, feature pedestrian-friendly mixed-use developments and provide residential housing is the vision for Plainfield Avenue.
 
These concepts are part of the Plainfield Corridor Redevelopment Advisory Committee’s Reimagine Plainfield plan, which was approved by the Township Board on May 24.

Reminder: Follow Fireworks Rules for Holiday Weekend
 
As Memorial Day weekend approaches, the Township is reminding residents the use of fireworks are allowed only Saturday and Sunday between 11 a.m. and 11:45 p.m.
 
In Michigan, only consumer fireworks are allowed.

Township to Host Virtual Memorial Day Commemoration Friday
 
For the second year in a row, Plainfield Township will transform its traditional Memorial Day event into a virtual commemoration.
 
The virtual commemoration will be available beginning at noon Friday on the Township’s Facebook and YouTube pages as well as plainfieldmi.org. The taped event will feature members of the Township’s Board of Trustees and guest speaker Tracey Nelson of the Grand Rapids Homes for Veterans who will honor military personnel who have died in service to the country. 

This year’s event is again virtual to help keep community members healthy and safe during the pandemic.

GVMC Seeking Community Input on Public Participation Plan
 
The Grand Valley Metropolitan Council is seeking community feedback on its revised Public Participation Plan through July 9.
 
The plan explains how and when the organization asks for community input during major transportation planning for Kent and eastern Ottawa counties, as well as the tools and techniques used to facilitate public engagement. 
 
Comments may be submitted by:
  • Emailing transportation planner Andrea Faber at andrea.faber@gvmc.org.
  • Calling 616.776.7603.
  • Visiting the GVMC website.
  • Mailing comments via U.S. mail to Faber at 678 Front Ave NW, Ste. 200, Grand Rapids, MI 49504.
Youth Soccer Tournament Being Held This Weekend at Premier Park
 
Two West Michigan soccer clubs will host several games at Plainfield Township’s Premier Park this weekend as part of the Grand Rapids Invitational Tournament.
 
Games begin today and conclude Sunday at the park, 3450 10 Mile Road NE. The tournament will feature more than 130 teams of players ages 9 to 19 from Michigan, Indiana and Wisconsin. Admission is free.

Township Offices Closed for Memorial Day
 
Plainfield Township offices will be closed Monday for Memorial Day. The Township will reopen at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Hours + Meetings

Business Hours:
Monday – Thursday: 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Friday: 7:30 – 11:30 a.m.
